I can’t keep up. Salvadorans and BizLats (sp?) and Armenians, oh my!
What’s the deal with the Armenians and the gas stations? Did Shane make deals with both the Armenian woman and the guys who were robbing the hookers in her buildings? Did he know the woman was going to have them killed? How did she know who they were? Who killed the guy at the gas station and why?
Is Shane trying to get enough cash to vamoose, or is he trying to out-Vic Vic?
The Hernan plot has me confused as well. Why did Hernan leave the country? Are we supposed to think he’s gone over to the bad guys, or is he just in too deep?
Vic’s theory is that Hernan fingered another Salvadoran as the rat to divert the suspicion from himself. Hernan’s girlfriend told Vic that the bosses made Hernan dump the chopped-up body as a loyalty test, but now Vic thinks Hernan chopped the fall guy up himself, and that’s why he was flown out of the country – to wait until the heat is off him.
As for Shane, he went to the one robber working garbage detail (the guy the Russian hooker identified) under false pretenses, getting him to name the other two members of his robbery crew. Then he turned their names over to the Armenian woman (played by Franka Potente, from Run Lola Run and The Bourne Identity), and she had her people take their balls. Apparently the gas station hit was by other Armenians, who Franka identified for Shane. She said they would confess to the killing, or their families would suffer the consequences.
Armenian mob owns/controls a gas wholesaler, so they put the squeeze on any independent retailer to buy from them?
Looks like it to me. She seems to be willing to pass Shane a large amount of cash, and the guy picking up trash had no choice but to accept his new partner if he wanted to stay in business.
I think Shane thought she was not ruthless enough. And not killed. Merely castrated. Probably while wide awake.
Didn’t Shane give her a piece of paper with their names?
Good question. Iraqi guys, because he tried to cancel service? I’m thinking it was the Armenian gangsta-daughta chick (who is really starting to scare me) because he resisted signing up with them.
Yes. He only has months or weeks to get the hell out of Dodge, so he is going for a total cashectomy.
I think he went psycho - so deep into his role playing that he is commiting some real, serious crimes.
p.s. Next week is the season finale? Dammit, I waited so long for this show to return…
Two episodes left. Next week is penultimate episode.
I wonder if they’ll solve the San Marcos murders. Plus, Dutch seems to be a little out of the main story, which disappoints. As for the part with the girls buying the purses - what a waste of minutes. Something better come of that - you need to extend to 68 minutes for that? At most, it was an attempt to get Dani, who has ticked off every other female regular, back into the fold.
The Armenian gas station job had more to do with internecine fighting between Armenian mob factions. Shane is trying to make some kind of score so he can get away from L.A. I was somewhat surprised that Ronnie knew about Vic and (dead cop from debut whose name I forget) and that he let it slide. Ronnie is getting dirtier by the moment, but he still seems smarter than Vic and Shane combined. Vic has the street smarts, but Ronnie knows how not to get caught. I like his increased role this season…too bad it came at Lem’s expense. I miss Lemansky.
Clever of Shane to make the guy think he was being shaken down, so he wouldn’t warn his buddies. I thought Shane was going to play both sides, but I guess there’s more money to be made from the Armenian woman. My DirecTV episode description said she and Shane have a romantic interlude this week. Unless I missed a real quickie, I didn’t see that, although he’s obviously attracted to her.
I didn’t know that Ronnie didn’t know about Terry. I have the first season on DVD, but I’ve only caught bits of other seasons, up until this one.
Terry, that’s it! :smack: I knew it began with a ‘T’, but drew a blank.
Vic (and I) thought Ronnie did not know. Now, from the conversation, it seems Ronnie knew, or very, very, very strongly suspected, and was more upset with being left out of the loop (as was Lem).
Now that we’ve cleared up confusion over this week’s complicated doings (I was a little lost myself), it’s time to answer this week’s real question: who would win in a fight: Corinne or Mara? My money’s on Corinne!
My money is on Mara. Corinne would spend all her time crying and asking for things to be explained to her. Mara would just grab the closest blunt object and start swinging.
Mara’s stupider than the iron she clocked (that other cop who’s name I also forgot but I believe also begins with a ‘T’) with. Either way, can I be the referee?
Liked the reference about ‘Pocket Pool’ then the shot of Billings pulling his hands out of his pockets. Poor Billings, he gets no respect. And what was Dutch’s hard-on about closing the knock-off shop?
