The Shield returns tonight!

Pushkin pssst there’s something called an internet these days.

Any love for the Dutchboy/Billings sub-plot? Hilarious I thought. Billings is such a loser. And anyone else think it was official Farmington HotCop Hanlon that didn’t clear the room properly for Dani?

thwartme

I’m sorry I missed Shane getting the crap kicked out of him. Can anyone provide a quick recap with lots of spoilers??

we love, love, love the shield!! we dvr it and watch it the next day. there is just so much going on, i can’t follow it that late at night. each ep really has to be watched twice just to catch everything that happened. and yeah–that fire axe was something else!!

Did you see the look on her face when Dani swore she would get the guilty party fired?

I don’t think much will come of it though.

the irony is that once dani put a guy in the cage without making sure he didn’t have a weapon!

What about the Dutch/Dani hookup? Did that actually happen last season? It’s been so long I can’t remember.

No she didn’t. Shane and Lem snuck that guy a knife so he’d kill the guy before he gave away some information that’d get Vic arrested.

Well… I do dabble, but I’ve neither the bandwidth nor the screen to take full advantage of it.

thanks!! it’s been so damn long between seasons it’s a wonder i remember any of the characters!!

They did kiss in the season finale but it hasn’t been mentioned so far.
I’m more curious about the rumor that

Tavon (and his memory of that night at Shane’s) returns.

I’ve read that, too, and in fact a number of the reviews have been saying that

the past has more of an impact on this season than ever before. Tavon was always the example they gave, but since critics only watched the first eight episodes there’s a chance that there’s more where that came from. It’s probably too much to expect a Glenn Close cameo, but I’m hoping Antwon Mitchell at least shows up.

This episode felt a little bit too busy for me. It felt like they were trying to fit too much in and the result was that a lot felt rushed. Also, the camerawork, always my least favorite aspect of the show, seemed to be more annoying than ever.

That said, all sorts of interesting things are in motion. I wonder how Vic and Ronnie, especially, deal with the guilt they’ll have for starting this gang war once innocents inevitably get hurt.

As for Shane, I almost even felt sorry for him when he realized Vic and Ronnie were lying to him about the Armenian’s murder. I forget what the rule is on speculation without spoilers, but I’ll put it in the box just in case:

My money’s on Shane committing suicide. He’s made a lot of mistakes and hurt a lot of people since we last saw him seriously considering it. Mara has to have something evil to do, though, so either she drives him to it, or she blames Vic and reports him using Shane’s blackmail folder we saw him compiling last season. Or she could always do both.

The Shield was one of my favorite tv shows, and season 5 was some of the best tv I’ve EVER seen. But season 6 totally lost me, and so far season 7 isn’t doing much better. I just can’t concentrate on this show anymore. Too many deals, too many double crosses…it’s just not the same for me. I’ll stick it out since I was with this show ever since I flipped to the very first episode and started watching and got immediately hooked.
