…I really screwed up the comic book event (didn’t play quickly enough because I didn’t realize that getting the Comic Book Guy introduced crafting, and only got him a day before the event ended!) so want to get my basic strategy sorted early! So looks like:
-Play every four hours
-Save the funny money
-Keep the players on task
-Put KBBL Sports Radio on 16 hour task
this is an interesting update. Unfortunately, I am at the point where I am running out of room in my Springfield and may now have to shuffle some stuff around if I want this place to look good.
Oddly enough, I also got a second Lardlad donuts a day or so ago.
I recommend that we only play against each other. Like the clash of the castles quest, we can play against random strangers but why give them a bonus when you can give it to your (virtual) bud.
I also got the Mrs. Duffman skin but it doesn’t allow him to play the game. Caveat donut spenders,
.
I hate this update. This may be the month I blow up my Springfield and take the length of the update to rebuild. Or delete the game, I haven’t decided yet.
Rather than be the Philadelphia Phillies of Tap Ball, I’m done with TSTO. Bad enough for games that reward OCD obsession, but to add a PVP element I can’t hope to compete in is too much.
I’m with you on the lack of enthusiasm.
This is interesting to me, because the Family Guy game has a current storyline that is very similar in that it has everyone competing against each other. You are literally rated against EVERY OTHER PLAYER ON THE PLANET!
It is a brilliant strategy, because most people that play seem to be addicted, and they have to either get every prize, or in the case of FG, depending on where you are in the global rankings, it will dictate what final prize you qualify for.
Personally, I don’t care. But I am the exception. People are spending a ton of money to move up the “leaderboard” so they can get some special “prize”. It baffles me how much money people are dropping on this stuff.
This is meant to generate sales, of course. People are beating the crapola out of me because I haven’t upgraded my players enough, so every time I log in, I have 6-10 more losses! My record is epic bad, and at this point, I doubt I would even be able to raise it to .500 no matter what I do.
I don’t mind playing the mindless, go-at-your-own-pace events. But this type of event I believe is the wave of the future. They are (I believe, anyway) going to see a tremendous spike in sales because people don’t want to lose a soccer game against their neighboreenos, and each event is going to be similar in pitting users against each other.
Great for company revenue, bad for freemium players who don’t want to feel like the Detroit Lions every time they log in.
Hey, I just got back 30 minutes of my day, so not that bad. While I have bought donuts long ago, I’ve played this as a free game for a couple of years. I refuse to put in the time and money to compete against others in this or any game.
And I was saving my donuts for a new character, not to try to be just the second worse player in my friend’s list.
Pretty much the same for me. I have spent $10-20 a few times but usually am content to just log in once or twice a day and enjoy the free content. I am almost never able to log in frequently enough to get the highest level event prizes, but I can get most of them, which is okay. It helps that this game has a ton of free content, unlike Family Guy which sort of Petered out (heh) after a couple months. And if I do decide to take a break for a while I can come back and pick up where I left off.
If it’s any consolation, because of the way the bonus increases with the ranking of your opponent, you can earn almost as much event currency losing to a five-star player as you can winning against a three-star player (there is a 10 foam finger difference,) and so far I’ve seen nothing to indicate that your position on the leaderboard is for anything other than bragging rights. Acts 2 and 3 might introduce something that makes it important, but I doubt it – the last event had the same sort of board, and your position on it had no effect on what prizes you won.
So forget about the rankings, and play Moneyball. I deliberately threw many of my first games by sending my 2-star team against donut-bought 5-star teams just to earn bucks more quickly so that I could upgrade faster. Except for wins that I needed quests and for the daily bonus, I only started to try to win every game once I had a squad that could compete against three-star teams.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t being the worst player on your friends’ lists an advantage? IIRC, your players don’t get tired (and can play even if they are currently tired) if an opponent challenges you to a game rather than the other way around - and you get paid when you lose. Since one of the tasks is to beat other players, seeking out weak players is a strategy at times.
Got me, and I’m not going to find out. The only reason there is a field in my Springfield is because the game wouldn’t let me store it when I nuked the town, so everyone can beat my team all they want. I, however, would get upset and frustrated seeing “You lose” over and over, and I’m not going to pay to win.
You don’t need donuts to do (reasonably) well in “Tap Ball”; you can spend “AmateurBucks” (the new currency, not to be confused with Foam Fingers) to upgrade them. The problem is, you then have to decide between spending the AmateurBucks on your players or saving them up to buy an item that won’t be available a month from now.
I’m not pissed because of the event itself, although it’s really annoying that I can’t ever manage all the daily tasks. I’m pissed because half of the rewards seem to be costumes for premium characters I don’t have.
Yeah, I’m not liking the premium aspect of this. In every other major event I’ve had at least one premium character or skin that could help. I don’t have Jasper or Lugash, nor do I want them. I’m sure there will be more things to come, but it kind of sucks to have a bunch of premium things that don’t help at all.
