I have a feeling as the event moves forward we’ll have more regular players we can use, which will give us the ability to play more than every four hours (or twice every four hours if you time it that way.
Just got updated with 4th of July event(?). Of course, first task is for Homer, and he’s busy practicing tapball. Gil trying to sell the Scandlegate Hotel and Tricky Dick for 150 donuts. I’d actually like to have Nixon - imagine his jobs - but I can’t see myself putting cash into this. Tempted, though.
George Washington and Abe Lincoln too. All three total 480 donuts. What is that, around $35? No way.
I already have Washington and Lincoln, but I can’t decide on Nixon. If he was voiced in-game by Billy West, I’d be a lot more tempted. As it is, I still read all the lines as Billy West doing his Nixon from Futurama.
FYI, if you have the wrestling skin for Grandpa Simpson, there’s a 12 hour task that nets some amateur bucks.

I bought Nixon and the presidential compound. Going to put it across the street from the Simpson house in my redesign.
I also bought Duncan. I love that horse. So far, I am happy with my purchases. The Nixon story li e is lame, but it has some sunny moments between the three presidents. I wonder how it plays out if you don’t uave them all.
I’m really annoyed about Fit Milhouse being a “prize.” I already had him and Milhouse (either original flavor or a skin) could earn currency already. Now he can play tap ball but I don’t have enough players to support a second game. Whoop de freaking doo. Normally while I don’t love every single event prize, I don’t get annoyed, but regifting is pissing me off.

I was at least expecting some donuts (I had him too) but alas, nada.
To be fair to the developers, Fit Milhouse was a free skin given away as a tie-in to some episode. A few donuts to the long-term players would be nice, but it’s not like it was a premium skin or even took any work to get the first time.
Anyone know what the balls are for and what they do?
I have picked up a few, and I’ve dropped all the balls I’ve had to drop, but I have no idea what the benefit is… And I couldn’t find it anywhere in the instructions.

Me too, kind of a bummer after saving up 500 bucks and having nothing become of it.
Here’s a good rundown of the balls.
Don’t go crazy getting them to the detriment of all other tasks, but do try to get them here and there - to help the community.
I’ve sort of put everything else on hold until I’ve got all my guys up to 5 stars. Though I’m not totally sure why.
While it wasn’t like how everyone bought the islands with donuts at Christmas and then we all got them for free, it wasn’t exactly a GOOD prize. I’m not angry, just disappointed grinding for a prize I kind of already had. I like how they did do the house skins at Christmas so that new players could get the ones older players had but there was new content for long-term players. They ARE capable of it.
I got one ball. I put it in Zipper’s town the day I had to buy it and haven’t seen another one since. It’s too hard to earn currency so I’m not going to spend it on gifts for other people right now.
I appreciate the ball, anyway 
I think I threw mine in your town too, FR. I’ve since collected 2 more but had to buy my second one. I’ll give it away tonight when I visit.
I’m super relieved that tapping on fans started giving money, though. Whew!
Supposedly the latest in-game update increases the ball-drop rate and decreases its cost in currency. Woo hoo. I think the community prize numbers might have been tweaked too. Again, EA can’t math, but I’m glad they’re correcting it this time… unlike Easter 2014.
Yeah balls are now 40 bucks instead of 500!! I just bought one, and happened to tap one in my town and it resulted in another ball for me.
The community score has doubled since this morning. It’s more than halfway to 10 donuts now.
I’m not entirely sure, but I think the community prize for the donuts went from something like 130 million to 3 million. Whatever it was, it was a big change.

I’m digging the new round. It’s at least a little different than JUST capture the elves/dwarves/goblins etc. Only complaint is that it seems to rely too heavily on the same small handful of characters to do various tasks at the same time.
I know they try to make it mostly the characters you get early on so more can enjoy it (and also so that you feel compelled to spend doughnuts and/or money on speeding up tasks)… but still, meh.
