I got something that said I got 10 donuts… but they never appeared. I spent my starting donuts frivolously and now they don’t seem to replenish.
I just started the game the other day. It’s kind of neat. Though the new storylines are making things appear out of order. I don’t even have Marge or Bart yet but they’ve been seen talking to people. Also I don’t have a bowling alley but I have a store that sells bowling balls.
I’m playing as vhrklarnevel. I added some people from this thread (who seemed to be active and whose names I could find). Also, I may have spraypainted your town. I couldn’t figure out if that was helpful or just annoying.
There is a known glitch with the Community Prize donuts. People aren’t getting the 10 donuts (Not sure if just some are, or nobody is). I talked with EA support and they said they hope to get it fixed, hopefully by the end of today.
“If you have not received your Donuts within 48 hours, then try logging out (through friends etc) and back in again. Then they should be there. But if they are still not there at this point then please contact us back just in case the patch has been delayed!”
…I got the community donuts last night. Then this morning, logged in, and got another 10 community donuts. So it looks like they just went and gave everyone an extra 10 donuts! Hopefully they won’t take my donuts away!
I’m not sure if anyone here’s noted this already, but if you try to upgrade your tap ball players and you’re within 15 amateur bucks of the cost to upgrade, you can “rush” the job for zero donuts.
Nice way to save a little money abusing an algorithm I guess.
I’ve officially got 8 players so I can play twice every 4 hours now.
BTW, how does it choose who plays when someone comes to my town (and what is my star rating based on)? Is it random or does it pick the 4 best players?
Added all three of you (tokyrie). I’m collecting SDMB players, but I don’t think there’s a bonus for a complete set.
I created a second Springfield just because I couldn’t find the answer to this anywhere and I also wanted to know. As far as I can tell, challengers always get your four best players, even if they’re fatigued, and your team rating is based only on the best four.
If anyone wants to add my low-level, infrequently played alt town, it’s bakyrie on Origin. It could use some friends, but it’s likely to be ignored a lot, so please don’t add it if you’re looking only for active friends.
I tried to add **Baffle **and **johnspartan **but got errors (got errors trying to add people before). Feel free to try to add me. I just cleaned out a few duds.
ZipperJJ, for the record
I’m actually enjoying this storyline. I think they cleaned up some key problems from previous challenges:
The main things happen in 4-hour increments. Everyone can handle 4-hour increments throughout the day. 6-hour increments are a nightmare.
The timed bonus prizes happen within your own 24-hour window. Not a 24-hour day. So you don’t have to hate yourself for falling asleep at 11 before you could get that last job completed for the day.
There was a third point but I forget it now.
Anyway, having missed the previous event like this (2013?) I am having fun with this one.
I don’t know if this was clarified before or not but there is more land squares available on the Southern area of town. I just bough a poop ton of new land so I can spread out my elbows in a few directions.
And EA has dropped the community prize requirements by a factor of 10. I wonder if they really miscalculated how much players would do the community part. I think it wasn’t helped by the cost of the balls, even when they dropped the cost, and the difficulty in ever actually seeing one in your town.
Getting 500 of those Bucks for me was a major chore. I couldn’t see spending that on a community ball when I was (and still am) getting my ass beat at the game. I need to upgrade my players first. But at least I can drop off balls whenever I need to.
Plus, they were (and are) damn hard to find. I found one bouncing in some greenspace. I originally thought they would all be on a road, but not for me. Also, the footballs are a joke. Unless they are out in the open and catch my eye, forget it.
The fans are also a bit more frustrating to find, so I spend less time looking for them.
I’m not sure what the big prize is at the end for the winner, but I was so far behind I was never going to catch up. I have over 200 more losses than wins, and that’s ok by me.
Another minor complaint I have is I would like to see things like “Marge Serve” or “Apu polishing his ball” out in the open. Often, they ealk away and end up behind a building or something and i can’t move them to see them performing the task. They should all go back to the field, like homer does with his bicycle kick.
I bought around 30 balls today because I’m on track to complete my prizes and there isn’t anything I want to craft. But if there were things I wanted to craft or the price was still high? I wouldn’t have.
ETA: We also had a new level drop. Comic Book Guy starts
One day and a few hours left to go. I got all the obstacle course stuff, two goalposts and two soccer nets. Now I want to stock up on stadium fencing!
I actually did well with this storyline. I think the key was the gameplay was about 4 hours. I could skip some blocks of play and make up for them later.
Oh, I remembered what the third good thing was:
3. Tapping one “squish all the…” (fans) thing on the screen would tap all of the things on the screen. Made clearing out your town way easier!
