I know this is all speculation, but IMO a live-action Simpsons would be a Very Bad Idea. That said, Anthony Hopkins for Mr. Burns, and Jerry Stiller for Grampa Simpson.
Perhaps it could be live action, but with voiceovers by the original cast. Why, that’s just crazy enough to… fail miserably.
Would you really want to see a live Homer strangle a live Bart? Or watch a real Mr. Smithers get kicked by a real Mr. Burns? It would be funny, but not ha-ha funny.
Some people say Homer looks like Dan Aykroyd.

Wait – does this mean that the show will officially end in just 2 years?? Say it ain’t so!! I mean, I know the show has jumped the shark, and jumped back, and jumped again a dozen times over, but it’s such a fixture of TV that I kinda thought it would be on, well, forever…or until one of the major voice actors died… 
As for casting, all I’ll say is Ralph Wiggum = George W. Bush. (Any Conan fans out there?)
I sure wouldn’t call it official. Who knows where IMDb got the number, and I don’t think anyone connected to the show has said the movie will be the end. [IMDb’s Simpsons trivia section says the cast members are each signed for three movies.] I think they started saying “we’ll do a movie when the show ends” years and years ago, never expecting the show to run for as long as it has. If the SNPP site is right, they’ve got at least one more year left.
