The Sims 2 - Nightlife

Here’s a thread that should sum up Uni’s problems:
buglist ver 6 - 134 bugs in uni, most with hackfix or workaround
Yep, that says 134.

From my understanding you can download a hack without even knowing it as it comes packaged with that Sim or house.
If you’re sure though, you’re sure.
I have a few selected hacks, besides fixes, and really haven’t had any problems that I can tell, but then I get all of mine from the same guy over at variousimmers.net after reading through the thread to make sure no one has posted any issues with it.

Interesting. I haven’t had any of the bugs listed there.

Oh, and just FTR, I have yet to download any mods or houses, etc. Been playing pretty pristine. I know I’m probably missing out on some cool stuff though

And it was only recently that I figured out why I never got invited to join the secret society. That was frustrating the hell out of me. I finally had one of the existing members move into a Frat House just so I could control her long enough to see what all the fuss was about. Then I got internet access again, and figured out what I’d been doing wrong.

Whoops! Bust that number of bugs down to 119.
Some where deemed “stupid programming”.
Gotta agree on most of them.

The most annoying bug for me is the level 6 Greek bug. Once you get your Greek house to level 6, no one else can be pledged.

I wouldn’t know as I never got that far. :frowning:
I think my hightest was level 4.

What I think sucks is after you ask someone to pledge, you get freebie “Inspire To…”‘s, right? Well, when I start the game back up I can never remember who my freakin’ pledges are. :smack:
It should show a little icon with a greek symbol or something so you know who’s a pledge, member, or just friend.
Or…am I missing something?

Wow, that game really does mirror real life!

Does anyone know where to find the stuck NPC fix?

J.M. Pescado’s FFS lot debugger (kill bills, invisible npcs, reenable save, etc)
update also allows it to attempt to free stuck sim
Two Jeffs npc zapper - “Well, the zapper doesn’t do anything too fancy, just obliterates him from the lot in a blue flash if he’s been banned.”

Who’s sticking?
I’ve been having a problem with my nannies getting stuck if they stay after they’re done working for the day.

Two things:

  1. People in Brazil are reporting a “bug” that, according to the guide, ain’t: tombstones, once you opt to move them to the cemetery, are randomly put there via the telephone on the cemetery lot. If they appear on the sidewalk, that’s normal (again, according to people with the guide). You just move and place them in Buy Mode.
  2. Looks like we will be getting the Sims own their own business expansion next.

I love the nightlife! All the cellphones disappeared! Yay!! I love cars!

I don’t have either University or Night Life. Should I get both, or just one? Are they planning on selling a combined package? Give me some recommendations. I have fun with just vanilla Sims 2, so I’m willing to wait.

I ran that through Babelfish (edited to change “windshield frame section” to “Sims”):

Do you got to boogie on the disco 'round?

Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm.
Toughie.
University is really buggy for some people. I’ve never had that big a problem with it, but that’s probably because I have what I like to call a ‘Sims dedicated’ computer.
My husband finally learned what that means after the *last * time I verbally bitch-slapped him for downloading a bunch of annoying ‘free goodies’ for my browsers and desktop.

Anywho, so far according to people on the Sims 2 site, Nightlife didn’t come with a patch for Uni and it might take a little while (few days, few weeks…I don’t know) for 3rd party, Nightlife compatible hacks to become available. Maxis is supposedly working on an official patch but that’s all up in the air right now as to when it comes out and what exactly it will be fixing.

I guess my overall opinion is you can probably skip Uni for now and go straight to Nightlife without missing much. I’m a hardcore Simmer (in case you can’t tell  ) and, while I like to send all my children to Uni, I find it tedious and you can get the same end results with a simple hack or two.
IMO the biggest thing about Uni is adding the extra life stage & Wants slots.
But then again, there are the new Careers and Career Rewards.
Ugh. Toughie.

One quick question that could probably answer this is; how’s much can your computer handle?
If you have to choose between expansions, I’d say (without even having played it yet) go with Nightlife.

The extra want slots you get from Uni make play a lot nicer IMO.

I got the FFS Debugger from Pescado that give you the option to “Upgrade Pre-Uni Sims”.
I’ve used it on some of my CAS Sims and haven’t had any problems, but while it gives the extra Want slots and locks they still don’t seem to have the option for Uni-Graduated jobs (paranormal, show biz, etc.).

Anyone ever try for extra Fear slots?
I’m just going to have to be ruthless on a poor Sim sometime so I can experience the full game play.

Thanks for the advice. My computer is 2.4GHz clock, 1GB RAM, 256MB graphics card. I run a tight ship, so no there’s no spywares, add-ons, etc bogging it down. The computer is two years old, and it’ll be another year before I even think of upgrading/building a new one.

Hmm, I’m inclined to wait for patches and/or a combined expansion box. Unless I get a sudden impulse to get them.

I GOT THE CALL!!!

I just got the freaking call!!!
I shall be playing tonight!

: drops dead from excitement :

: weeps with jealousy :

Best Buy currently has the game on their shelves, Wal Mart says they won’t get their’s for a day or more.

I’m off to Best Buy!
