the Sing yer li'l ol' heart out MMP

Okay here’s a joke:

David received a parrot for his birthday. This parrot was fully-grown, with a bad attitude, and worse vocabulary. Every other word was an expletive. Those that weren’t expletives were, to say the least, extremely rude.

David tried hard to change the bird’s attitude and was constantly saying polite words, playing soft music, anything that came to mind. Nothing worked. He yelled at the bird, the bird got worse. He shook the bird and the bird got more angry and exceedingly rude.

Finally, in a moment of desperation, David put the parrot in the freezer.
For a few moments he heard the bird squawking, kicking and screaming and then, suddenly, all was quiet.

David was frightened that he might have actually hurt the bird and quickly opened the freezer door. The parrot calmly stepped out onto David’s extended arm and said: “I’m sorry that I offended you with my language and actions. I ask for your forgiveness. I will try to check my behavior”

David was astounded at the bird’s change in attitude and was about to ask what changed him when the parrot continued, “…may I ask what the chicken did?”

Sorry to break the trend…
OK, what I do to pay for my interwebz is setup this huge database, ok? We do this in a team, with one person responsible for prepping the part for Finance, another one the parts for Production, etc. Of course many of those parts have lots of hands in: we all need to use data from Finace for example, but I don’t touch anything for which someone else is the Primary Responsible; when I need something like that I ask them “what do I write here?” and that’s it.

The dude from Sales has been merrily scratching his ass for over a month. When the Purchasing guy needed something from him, Sales would say “oh, just do it yourself”; he says the same to me too but I just refuse to do whatever, it’s his job and I am not doing it. Yesterday Sales finally started looking at his own data and discovered that OMG, it was done but it was marked as done by Purchasing. Well, no shit, honey, it sure wasn’t you who did it!

So he decided he had to redo it, so it would have his mark. And the first step he did was erase the Factory that had been created by Purchasing, the Factory we all need to use, the Factory which, now that I have gone again through every single step in my data-setup process, appears in about 1/3 of the things I need to set up (and which I’ve needed to re-setup). Good thing I had documented everything (as usual I seem to be the only one who documents while doing instead of post-facto).

I sincerely hope he gets bum lice the size of pandas (the car or the animal, whichever is bigger), with the general disposition of a hydrophobic skunk

Morning, mumpers! Today is my Firday, woot!

Last night I went out for dinner and cocktails, was very yummy and I happily stuffed afterwards. Got home around 9.30pm to feed the cats and have a cup of tea before bed. Busy day at work today, leaving early to do shopping and errands tonight…and then I have the day off tomorrow becasue two of my friends are getting married.

I rang the hotel where the ceremony is taking place to ask if we could get an early check-in since their check-in time is 2pm and that’s when the wedding starts. I only wanted an hour at the most, just so that we have time to get changed into our posh clothes…and the thieving scallies want to charge us £30 for it. I think not.

Nava, that idiot needs to almost die from a thousand paper cuts and have his nearly-dead remains feasted on by feral cats.

Morning all, up and caffeinating and ready to head off to work! Oh yeah …

Happy Thursday; I’m a bit blurfy this morning, but I’ll muddle through. Hah, btw, has anyone any experience at increasing font size on Firefox?! I thought I’d made it a bit larger, but it only shows up on a very few pages!!! It makes me unhappy to be unable to read or have to squint really bad trying to read …

I second what BooFae said, Nava.

Did you ever have the feeling that you were supposed to be doing something but have forgotten what it is? Well, if anybody remembers what I’m supposed to be doing, let me know.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Need to get my hiney in gear and get purtified as a friend is on his way down from the wilds of East Alabammy to hang out for a couple of days. OYKW is takin’ off so’s we can all be slothful layabouts as that’s the big plan.

Nava sounds like we need to get the trouts and chitlins out to use on Sales Guy.

Ok, off to purtify.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated, and off to irk.

Blurf.

I woke up around 2:30 worrying about this phase of the project and couldn’t go back to sleep until the alram went off.

I’m in charge, but I’ve been given bad models, and another guy and I have to fix them and have a drawing out by Monday.

Freakin’ out here…

Happy Thor’s Day all! This has been a most mellow week. I hope I didn’t jinx myself by saying that.

Sorry about your stupit cow-orker, nava!

Glad you are no longer thinking murderous thoughts, bobbio.

boofae, will the hotel at least stow your luggage for you?

Good jokes, everybody.

Tupug

Pugs, that’s not really a problem, I’ll be driving to the hotel so our bags can stay in the car until we can transfer them to our room. However, us girlies need somewhere to get changed and do our last minute frou-frouing! Can’t turn up at a wedding looking less than lovely, can we? Besides, I need time to get my hat on straight.

What have the poor cows done, now? They are such nice animals, too!

ETA: first!

Morning, all! Last night’s Wicked was lots of fun, although I was really tired, so I got dozey in a couple of spots.

Nava: how to idiots like that not get fired/reassigned on the spot?
**
tarra**: I haven’t used the resize function in Firefox very much, so I don’t think I can help much. Have you tried increasing the size on the individual pages where it’s looking smaller? That’s the only idea that comes to mind.

Slept in this morning till 8:15 or so and am now doing laundry, figuring out what I need to do before my niece gets here (ETA: 1:30 or so). Off to get stuff done.

There was more, but I’ve gotta get moving here…

Hugs.

I just had a confrontation with a (probably now) former client. I had sent out an email to all of my clients explaining some changes I’m making including discontinuing my incentive program and other things. Well, one client who always makes sure to get her fair share and part of everyone else’s has been giving me a really bad time about it. I pretty much let her have it as nicely as I could. My other clients have either said nothing or have written return emails that are incredibly supportive. Why does one miserable, greedy individual have to ruin everything?

I just heard that Iraqi security forces have arrested a terrorist cell that was responsible for manufacturing booby-trapped prayer mats.

Prophets were going through the roof.

Nava, I feel your pain. I spent nearly 30 years programming on IBM midrange and mainframe computers and set up a lot of databases in my time. If there’s one thing I learned, and I didn’t learn much, it was to document everything, all the time.
The other thing I learned was to not trust the network guys, but that’s another story.

BooFae, they wear hats at English weddings? Do take some pictures, would you? There’s a dear.

Got to get busy now. -zoom-

Howdy Y’all! East Alabammy friend and I are headin’ out to meet OYKW for lunch at Chili’s in a few. OYKW is takin’ off the rest of the day and said he’d treat us all to lunch if’n it could be at Chili’s. Who am I to argue re free food!

Sounds to me like you’re better off without her. She’s a poopyhead and you can tell her I said so!

Home, awaiting the return of my sweetie. I think we’re going out to eat tonight because I don’t feel like cooking and today was payday so I’m temporarily loaded with $$$

I was just talking to my baby sis on the phone. She found out her ex was dead. No hugs necessary. He was a hard-core substance abusers and a thief. Two months after they married, he was in jail. Shortly after he finally got out, he hocked a bunch of her jewelry and electronics and disappeared without a word. She had a tough time divorcing him because she had no idea where he went, but he became the ex 10 years ago.

She found out the other day at work when an ex-niece-in-law stopped by the bar where she worked and they discovered their connection while chatting. Apparently he died 2 years ago from complications of diabetes, unrelated  to his drinking  and substance abuse  of course. I personally never liked the guy, and I think my sis married him because she thought she could help him. This is the sister that takes in all kinds of strays - she now has 2 dogs, 2 cats, and an unemployed roomie… So anyway, closure on that chapter.

In other news, um, not much. Tomorrow is our work picnic at King’s Dominion, and I ain’t goin’. Between admission, the meal, and parking, it’s something over $40, plus a day of vacation. I’ll stay in the office, thanks. I know **kopek **is going to be at KD this weekend, but it’s a bit of a drive from home - like 90 minutes or so, and much as I’d love to meet him, I ain’t driving that far after working all day. His loss…

I’s hongree - hope my sweetie gets home soon…

Things are going swimmingly - at least I’m keeping my head afloat!

My feet hurt like they did when I first started this stupid job. New work shoes have been moved up to the top of the “get as soon as I get paid” list.

Kitty is absolutely convinced that my baked potato is something very delicious that she must eat. I did, after all, go into the kitchen to get it, and the kitchen is the Found of All Deliciousness.

I realized I never said anything about the OP. I sing in a world music choir. It’s just a small group - usually only about a half dozen or so this summer but up to a couple dozen during the year - that sits around in a circle singing everything from African songs to Indian (meaning both from South Asia and Native American) to Irish drinking songs to folk to the Andrews Sisters to the Bee Gees. All a capella. And often outdoors. With no performances. It’s partially singing and partially meditation. (Well, not really, but it feels like it sometimes.) So I sing but in a very different way than the Sweet Adelines.

I’m taking tomorrow off and am supposed to be having a pool party with some friends. But the weather’s looking pretty cruddy for tomorrow. So I’m not quite sure what’s going to happen. But at least I have the day off!
