The Song Synonym Thread

Note: I was debating putting this in Cafe Society or the Game Room, but as it relates to music, I figured it belongs here.

So, lying in bed late last night I had one of those weird ideas you get around that time: the Song Synonym Game.

What happens is one person posts the name of a song with all significant (not the, a, etc.) words replaced with synonyms or near-synonyms. The person who figures out the song name then posts the next one.

As an example, say I wanted to do “Feeling Groovy”.“Feeling” can become “Experiencing” while “Groovy” can become “Coolness”. I’d then say “Experiencing Coolness”.

Let’s start off with an easy one: “Terraced Pathway to Utopia”.

Stairway to Heaven

Unrestrained Feathered Creature

You mean “coiffure path to Mr. Jobs”? (Hairway to Steven?)

Free Bird

Unusual Prestidigitation

Freebird

Golden Underwater Boat

ETA: Beaten to it by burpo!

Is it Strange Magic?

If so, I’ll re-submit Golden Underwater Boat.

Yellow Submarine

Heliotrope fog

Purple Haze

Experts of Battle

Masters of War

Roaring Elevations

The coin flipped differently when it I did it – off to the Game Room.

God damn it. I can’t figure the last one out, and this was shaping up to be a fun game. Somebody do something.

Such Great Heights by Iron & Wine?
Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain?
Holy Mountains by System of a Down?
Twist and Shout by the Isley Brothers?

As a Sparrow on a Copper Strand

After 17 furious minutes of research, the best I can come up with is:

Such Great Heights - The Postal Service
BIP:

Circuitous

Like a Bird on a Wire

Circuitous

Round and Round by Perry Como

A More Blanched Hue of Sallow

A Whiter Shade of Pale - Procol Harum

Also, I’m certain that MrDibble’s entry is supposed to be Wuthering Heights - Kate Bush. (Why was it so hard?)

In play: Doppler-Style Adoration

Should have been “Roundabout” (Yes)

BIP: Doppler-Style Adoration

Radar Love
Next: Stride As a Pharoah

Walk Like an Egyptian

Harpsichord Person

Piano Man

Excessive Currency, Excessive Complications

I forgot to quote; I was offering my solution for ‘Harpsichord Man’, if that wasn’t obvious.
