The Song That Vanished Completely

Hi guys.

I heard this song about ten years ago, and haven’t been able to find it, despite my fantastic google-fu. If someone could identify it, it may save whatever’s left of my sanity. A vain hope, but hey, sometimes that’s all we have.

So. It’s difficult to explain music you vaguely remember, so I’ll try with the lyrics. There’s “She came back down to earth again” <guitar riff - da-da da-da da daaaa>. “Don’t let your color fade/Nothing’s for nothing/If you wanna be something, yeah”. The music had a psychodelic feel to it, similar to Butthole Surfers’ ‘Pepper’. Plz help!!!

This only matches about 15% of your criteria, but I’m going to link it anyways just in case, since memory is such a funky thing. It’s the closest I could think of!

Screaming Trees - All I know

Reading the lyrics, I see why you suggested this. But the phantom song is much grungier, heavier. I’m 100% sure I heard this song outside of my head, on TV, despite my friends repeated telling me I imagined it

Beck - “loser”?

You say the mystery song is like Butthole surfers “Pepper” so I thought of Beck “loser” and This is why. A musical mobius strip I tells ya!

Are you sure you heard it in English? I do that sometimes… I forget which language I’ve read books in, and trying to talk to someone I realize it’s not been translated yet.

I’m sure it’s not what you’re looking for, but part of your description of the lyrics reminded my of Billy Preston’s Nothing From Nothing. Is it possible you’re conflating some of the words and that’s what’s messing with your Google-fu?

Bit of a reach, but the song “Drops of Jupiter” by Train has the lyric line of:

“Since the return from her stay on the moon”

This isn’t likely it, but the closest I could come is “Stars” by HUM.

Right style, right era, lyrics that aren’t THAT far off.

Well, it’s definately not ‘Loser’ (enjoyed the mash-up, tho).

GHO, your theory is possible, tho I’m 100% certain it was in English…

Wheelz, never heard of Billy Preston, but I shall listen to that song.

pythonzzz, it is nothing like Drops of Jupiter, but thanks for the suggestion!

INRS, yours is the closest to what I remember, but no cigar. :frowning:
