THE SOPRANOS 5/23/04 - 'Long Term Parking' (Spoilers)

The ol’ interagency cooperation, eh?
Terrorist links seem to be on a scale much more urgent than anything having to do with Tony Soprano, but then again, the show isn’t called “The Terrorists”. Still, you’d think they’d at least want to try for the name of Matouche’s (sp?) sidekick so they - or somebody - could question him. Maybe they could have told Ade that they were thinking of making a donation to one of those wonderful boys’ schools Matouche told her about - she’d probably believe that :stuck_out_tongue: .

sad as it may seem there’s so many people funding terrorist activities going after the drug dealer would be a waste of time so in that respect Tony was a far bigger fish to fry. You’re also forgetting they thought they had Ade in the palm of their hand plenty of time to talk to her after they flipped Chris, first things first and all that.

I don’t think Matoush is a terrorist; the Feds just used that possibility as an excuse to take jurisdiction of the case. Not that it will do a lot of good now…

Ade’s an idiot, though. When the police say they already know everything, it almost always means they don’t know SHIT. (And if they do know, why tell em?) She should have kept her mouth shut or at least come up with a lie. Poor girl.

What? He ‘prays all the time’ ‘gotten very religious all of the sudden’ and sends money to ‘a prep school for young boys’ I suppose it’s possible he’s not funneling money to a terrorist camp but I think that’s pretty clear the conclusion we’re supposed to draw from it.

Here’s one more twist on Mr. Mullet. Someone mentioned him going back to his trailer. I don’t think so. Didn’t it look like his car was packed for traveling? I think that was part of why it struck Chris. Ade was wanting Chris to go away with her.

I agree that Tony needed to stand up to Johnny S. It reminded me of what I learned in history class of pre-WWII Europe. Johnny S. is playing the part of the Germans. Tony had been practicing appeasement. There comes a point where you realize that isn’t going to work any more.

Oh, and I’m pretty sure Ada is dead. Silvio wouldn’t spare her (why would he?) and, of course, Drea has got that new Joey show and doing The Sopranos would leave her no time to do that one.

Here’s the link for the Top Ten list done by the Sopranos cast on Letterman last night.

I was half expecting some boos for Chris, but nope, apparently Dave’s audience understands about acting. A.J.'s applause was pretty light though. Teenagers never get any respect, do they?

I almost choked when she talked about the prep school for boys. Can you say Madrassa (or however you spell it)?

This episode was phenomenal. One of the best. It’s why we watch this show!

As for Ade being “an innocent bystander”, that’s just DtC and his liberal pity-the-poor-victim worldview. She wants the lifestyle the mob gets her, but doesn’t have the smarts to stay alive in that environment. It ain’t easy to live that life and actually **LIVE ** that life.

I did see the connection between the two wooded lots, but I don’t see any possibility it’s the same place. Just more teaser material, but well done nonetheless.

Wow. What a great episode, especially after last week’s stinker!

Yeah, what we saw was the mental connection that Tony had thinking that Aide had just been disposed of in a location very similar to the lot he was in. He had a little bit of a mini-panic attack there, which is why he sat down on the stump. Carm said the lot was in Crestview, which is a burb about five miles southwest of where Casa Soprano is in North Caldwell (and generally outside the usual boundaries of show). Tony mentioned Ramapo during the phone call, which puts her execution site in way north North Jersey or neighboring portions of New York. Opposite ends of Sopranoland, but purposefully similar in resemblance…

What with having to give an order to kill a beloved blood relative to be and the coming war with New York, its no wonder he’s on the ragged edge again.

Really? He set down right after Carmella told him it was $600,000 for 1 acre and surveyor was coming tomorrow. I kinda thought he was sitting down trying to figure out he’s going to pay for this just after he pissed off Johhny Sacks. At $600,000 for an acre believe me I’d have to sit down and have a drink.

I know, I know, he’s with the mob he can afford it.

I was thinking about how similar the land was to where Ade was killed.

Anyone else coming to the idea it’s a symbol that shows how Carmela profits from these deeds and so she’s no better? Or am I just off on my own here?

Sure, I can see it that way-- though every interpretation sounds like what the writers were going for–speculation about the scene.

Carmela seems to have really been knocked down a few pegs this season.
While she was the devoted, nurturing wife and mom, it was easier to forget that she might as well have blood on her hands, as she profits from everything Tony & Co. do.

This scene may have been a bit more subtle than the one several seasons back, when she sought counseling and the counselor waived his fee, refusing her “blood money,” but I think it was just as telling about her as a character.

Boy, Silvio doesn’t talk much, but apparently he’s as much of an evil prick as any of the happy crew. I really thought Christopher was going to keep squeezing Ade’s neck until she was dead. What a miserable, worthless wretch.

My spouse and I were discussing the Silvio character and as mentioned in this thread, he really hasn’t ever been shown committing overt violence. He was present when they murdered Pussy, and he smacked a troublesome stripper from his club, but that’s it.
I think Chase and Co. used this episode to leave no doubt that Silvio is as horrible as the rest of them.

Christopher I would love to see taken out in a horrible, painful fashion–at the end of next season.

Here’s one that has been spotted elsewhere:

Sometimes guys go into Witness Protection FOR protection. Who might have had ties to high-ups in the Soprano family? Maybe a couple of other families? Someone who is now running for their life?

Tony B???

Could HE look for protection?
Granted, he wasn’t around long, but his access level seems to have been high, and he’s desperate… (and it would let Buscemi leave, and still have Johnny Sack and Tony with no victor in their little duel…)

I just watched it again tonight. God! What a great episode! Chefguy, I think that’s exactly what she’s planning. She wants out of the life, but not out of the money. She’s setting herself up to financially secure on her own, legitimately too.

What great acting watching Christopher in so much anguish! Total helplessness and despair.

My way out predictions for the last episode: Christopher whacks Tony B. Little Carmine wacks Johnny Sack. (I didn’t catch how Johnny Sack nudged Little Carmine out to become a boss) Carmella is on her way to building her own financial empire in her dad’s name.

E3

I’m guessing that he threw that suitcase in the Meadowlands somewhere. It’s a pretty big area full of swamps and marshes and all kinds of junk and other crap. That suitcase is gone for all practical purposes.

Could someone refresh my memory on why Tony B did the killings, which lead to all this conflict with Johnny S?

Because Phil and Billy Leotardo were responsible for killing Angelo, who was a close friend of Tony B.

Oooh, this sounds like fun! My way out prediction is that someone in Johnny Sack’s crew, most likely Phil Leotardo, tries (but fails) to whack…

Wait for it…
Here it comes…

Silvio!
