Both your posts were insightful and eloquent. Touché.
While I understand the frustration of seeing a spoiler meant for a future episode, using personal insults in Cafe Society is still against the rules. Please don’t do that again.
And, What the … !!!, don’t introduce spoilers for future episodes unless the thread is about that particular episode (or otherwise requests such spoilers).
Actually that possible scene has been mentioned multiple times over the past few weeks/episode discussions.
In spoiler tags though.
Having a bad day/life, Abso? Like now we all know that everyone lives happily ever after… NOT.
And the title of this thread says "Open Spoilers"
Specifically, it says: The Sopranos – 6/3/07 (there will be open spoilers)
As in, for that episode.
I’m with Euthanasiast and others: the title means spoilers for that episode. Spoilers for other episodes should be tagged.
My bad… I guess Spoilers are OK but hints at what may happen that are in the public domain need to be boxed.
Too bad we can’t get WCBS-TV to comply:
The spoiler I can forgive, but that’s just evil…
So far I am holding out.
Me too. I spoiled myself for the Lost season finale. Won’t make that mistake again.
I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler anyway so I didn’t even consider boxing it originally.
Sorry if that tempts you too much
According to hbo, the last epi will be a whopping, bonus, splendiferous “61 minutes.”
Waddyawannabet there’ll be 10 minutes of lead-in crap?
What kind of time frame is this season in? The last show of last season was at Christmas time, and the first show of this season was apparently the summer. There was snow on the ground in this episode. Given the information in the spoiler (as noted above), do you think the final episode will be set in the “next day”? Or later, after the war is over?
“Flatbush Bikini Waxing” … teeheehee.
“Flatbush Bikini Waxing” … teeheehee.
This has been driving me crazy: What was the book Sil was reading in the May 20th episode?
Wasn’t it “How to Clean ALmost Anything”?
Dick Cavett has an essay in the NY Times today about he show for anyone interested.
Thanks, Trunk. There’s “Predictions” thread, have you checked it out?
I agree. But Harris has been in Tony’s life quite a bit since his alleged move to Homeland Security. I have a hard time believing that he keeps talking to Tony all the time just because he likes the sandwiches at Satriale’s.
I didn’t see this mentioned earlier. The scene where Melfi fires Tony gave me a big grin. The way she closed the door on Tony was a clear allusion to the final scene in The Godfather where Michael closes the door on Kay. What a fitting way to end their relationship. The modern-day wise-guys on The Sopranos revere the Godfather movies and they think they live their lives the way the characters in the movies do. This simple little homage said a lot about Tony. He is not Michael Corleone.
All along in the series there’s been this tension between, “well, I know Tony is a huge asshole, but I still kind of like him.”
But, this season, Chase has certainly been bitch slapping him.
Melfi bitch-slapped him like you describe.
Phil has been bitch-slapping him like crazy.
Some of his other actions – like the killing of Christopher – have been more directly sadistic and unforgiveable than anything he’s done in the past. I think that Chase is really consciously trying to rip apart the American glorification of the gangster.
Seriously, what can someone else do with it at this point?
Even *Donnie Brasco *and *Goodfellas * might have exposed the gangster as small-timers for a bit, but they still had a lot of sympathy for them, and never savaged them the way that Tony is being savaged (IMHO) by Chase.
