The Stanley Cup Playoffs Thread

The Ducks did wake up at least and took home ice back with a bunch of goals from rookies that came to play.

Oh, and I have to say that “Can you hear us?” is one of the all-time funniest chants I’ve ever heard from a crowd at a sporting event. That was fantastic.

IMO, that goal is on the forwards, not PK Subban. Subban had been trapped on the ice for 2 minutes at that point. The forwards absolutely have to recognize that and get the puck deep so he can change. Subban got hung completely out to dry there.

Subban probably should have tried to stay on, but had to be dead tired at that point and he may not have been capable of doing so.

Luongo is done. Turn him into glue.

There’s a lot of series left but the Canucks are making me nervous.

Suppose, just suppose, they were to lose this series. Would it be the most cowardly, disgusting chokefest in sports history, the league’s #1 team blowing out in the FIRST ROUND? Why yes. Yes, it would be.

The 'Nucks should just forfeit. It’d be less embarrassing than this.

So, should Vancouver start Schneider in the next game? Luongo has been horrible the past two games.

And they aren’t just losing. They’re getting spanked. After the first beatdown, I figured that it is an anomaly. Vancouver got cocky and didn’t show up. Two games? Now you’ve got a real problem on your hands. Vancouver should be very worried right now about this series and (now only) possibly the next.

If the Canucks win Game 6 they’ll start with a clean slate in Round 2. Every new series is a new world. If there’s any psychological carryover… and I really don’t think there is, but maybe… it will be “We finally beat the goddamned Blackhawks, and when every said we were choking, too. Now we’re gonna lay waste to the Kings/Sharks/Predators/Whomever.”

But holy shit, they have to win that one more game. That’s two absolute embarassments in a row.

Meanwhile… the SHARKS spanked the Kings pretty good. Finally.

There was strong play most of the night. But I saw moments of puck fumbling, such as the one that let the Kings score their first goal. Plus some stupidity, such as Heatly’s tripping brainfart along with Boyle’s crosscheck that gave the Kings a five on three late in the game, but they were down by three at that point with 3 minutes left.

Is this the year the Sharks fly in under the radar?

Vancouver can’t take anything positive out of the last 2 games. Luongo suddenly looks like a deer caught in the headlights, like he has for the last 2 years. Schneider needs to start the next game. The Hawks aren’t just in Luongo’s kitchen, they are rearranging the cupboards. And somebody needs to light a fire under Kessler.

And not pulling Quick when the 5 on 3 started for a 6th skater told me that the Kings already gave up on a late (albeit slight chance) of a comeback…but there was enough time to possibly get 3 goals with about 3 minutes left…

I think the Canucks are just clearing the riff-raff out of the bandwagon for the rest of the journey. The Canuck train has never been an easy ride. Get on the Detroit bandwagon if that is what you’re looking for.

Luongo haters having been laying low for most of 2011 but are now exploding out of the woodwork. I have a feeling he’ll get his mojo back though.

The Canucks really are the better team and they have two more chances to seal the deal.

Is the  for me? I don’t see a drawback to at least try to score 6 on 3*.
My point was that my players took stupid penalties. The trip by Heatly really got Murray’s pretty pink panties knotted up, but to truely punish Heatly, you have to score on the man advantage.

*: Or 5 on 2, if you have one of your players lie on top of Pickles.

No…not for you…the  is for the Kings not pulling Quick at the start of the 5 on 3. It should have been a 6 on 3…that’s why I did a . They had nothing to lose (that they weren’t already losing) at that point.

Wha…wha…what…??? What the hell is that??? Somebody get me a drink.

Sports is the only thing that makes me stupid-stitious. Well, one of the only things. I don’t know what to do to ensure a Canucks win. I’ve been wearing my Salish Orca pendant since the playoffs began, I have been drinking vodka and seven exclusively* (weird superstition) and I make sure not to watch them sing the national anthems. I have my ticket stub from my first game I saw them play taped to the tv.
It isn’t working. I haven’t done anything different since Games 1, 2, and 3. It’s enough to make me disbelieve in superstitions.

*I mean for alcohol. Yes I still drink water/coffee/orange juice.

The Wings are sitting around waiting for their next opponent. They have had time to heal with Zetterberg probably coming back. But history shows the team with long wait has trouble getting back in the flow of a real game.

Getting ready to head to the UC for the Blackhawks game. Wish me luck!

Luongo sits tonight in favour of Schneider. Unless Luongo is hurt this is a phenomenally stupid move by the Canucks.
