Happy Birthday, Puggalina, dahlink!!!
Home from a day of running around doing stuff. We lost power again during the night for a couple hours or so, and the cable was still out when we got up. *Someone * needs to hook up the generator we bought 2 years ago!!
We went to check on the boat - apparently the water at Solomons Island got so high, the docks at our marina started floating. We arrived to find sandbags and cinderblocks holding planks down! The good people at the marina had adjusted our docklines to allow for the higher water, and we readjusted them this morning. We also bought a replacement alternator and some belts, went to a very soggy, small craft fair (mine next week will be better!
) We were going to get an AM/FM/CD player for the boat, too, but Best Buy was closed - no power. But they were giving out 5% off coupons good for tomorrow, and by later this afternoon, the power was restored to that shopping block, so we’ll go tomorrow and get our radio. Plus I’m going to help **FCD ** make up some wiring harnesses.
Tonight, I’ve got to make a pedestal cover. For you non-boaters, the pedestal is the assembly where the steering wheel is mounted. Our pedestal also has the compass, the knot log, depth sounder, and wind indicator, plus the new GPS chartplotter will go there, too. I’m going to make a plain, boring canvas sack to drop over the whole shebang and protect it from the weather. Then when we decide what color we want for the sail cover, dodger, and canopy, I’ll make a new, better fitting cover for the pedestal and the winches.
The sun is out, but it’s still under 70, and I’m loving it!! The dampness is lessening, and tonight should be good sleepin’! Oh, in addition to the pedestal cover, I’m going to build a peach french toast casserole for breakfast tomorrow. Yummmmmmmmmy!
Our yard is a disaster - leaves and branches everywhere. We also had 2 dead trees come down in the back yard, by way far from the house, so no biggie there. We’re going to pick up the big sticks on the grass, then mow over the leaves to mulch them up. No need to rake. And we’ll need a chainsaw weekend to take care of all the big branches. We’re almost out of firewood.
That’s all for now. Life is good!
