Sheppard Software Games has geography games of various levels that are simple and fun. I found them through another thread about the place your states game. So the other day, my three year old daughter wanted to play a game. Well, I went there a couple of weeks ago and now she knows her states. She still has a bit of trouble remembering which one of the Carolinas is which, but other than that she knows them. It is really fun for her too. Sometimes she wonders to the other games, and is now getting better at naming different countries and the Mexican states as well.
Why do we wait so long to teach basic geography? Right now she finds this facinating.
We are avoiding much of the “Barbie Fashion Plate”! stuff as we can. Not much tv, no licensed branding on clothes or toys. We teach her, give her books and toys, and give her plenty of time and space to play. She seems very happy and is quite smart and is very active.
I encourage you to try that site; it is never too late to learn. I am learning the states of Mexico and the countries of Africa now. It is a fun game.
