The strange case of the phony favicon

A minor but odd issue I’ve noticed for awhile now…I see it happen in a Safari browser on my iPad all the time (like right now). I don’t know if it happens in any other browser / device combos. Anyway, many times when I have several tabs open, the normal yellow ‘SD’ favicon will be replaced by the favicon of another site I have open. This will persist even if I close the tab of the other site. I’ve never seen this happen with any other website; is this a known issue with this site? As I say it’s very minor, but a bit annoying when I glance at my open tabs and think the SD tab got closed down.

I’ve never seen this happen for Firefox.

I have been using the Discourse app, which I keep in the dock. It has a bit of teh suck about it (not too much more than just a browser wrapper), but it does badge notifications and gives me a straight shot to SDMB. Mostly I use it because I have yet to pony up, my browser blocks ads, and that seems kinda dishonest.

Yeah, when I’m on the SDMB on my desktop I usually use Firefox too, and I have not seen it happen there. Only in the Safari browser on my iPad. It’s the only site in that browser / device combo I’ve seen it happen to though.

I’ve had that happen as well, using Safari on my iPhone. I think I even started a thread about it a year ago.

Maybe it’s this?
