I’m not one who would claim to have a great “Gaydar” but looking at the youtube interview, Shirvel just reeks of repressed homosexuality. I wonder if some regretted college experiences when he was a student at Michigan could be behind this.

I heard about this a couple weeks ago. (I’m a student at the University of Michigan.) You have to read the blog, it is CRAAAAAAZY.
I could only get through a couple minutes of the interview. Does he ever come out and say why he has zeroed in on this kid? I mean, WTF??? There are plenty of anti-gay people who are capable of coming across as rational and reasonable-sounding and having reasons for their beliefs… Shirvel just really seems to be making it personal and completely nuts.
He never even started with an approach like “My personal religious belief is that homosexuality is wrong and it is dangerous to have homosexuals in positions of leadership. This young man, being gay, is likely to be a corrupting influence”.
Note that the above is load of malarkey in my opinion, but at least if I heard someone saying that my first thought would not be “FUCKING CRAZY”, rather “Well, aren’t you a bigot!”.
Wow. Homo parties are being “raided” in Ann Arbor because they are serving booze and playing loud music at 1:30 am in the U of M campus area? And it is unknown if any citations were issued in this “raid” (by two very calm looking officers not wearing any homo proof protection like chastity belts or rubbers balls in their mouths), but it is clear that the purpose of the party was to entice young males into the homo lifestyle. OMG. Young people are being liquored up and being coerced into sex at U of M. Stop the press!

For some reason, this reminds me of the plot of Karate Kid 3. Some powerful figure, operating from the shadows, punching WAAAAAAY below his weight class to ruin the life of some random kid for unknown reasons.
I’m just hoping this kid has a wise older gay man to help guide him through.
Could this be considered stalking – at least, in the legal sense? Could he obtain a restraining order?

I met Shrivell a few times while I was a student at Michigan. This isn’t the first time he’s singled out one person to attack. Anyone running for some sort of office is fair game. He’s the most outspoken and least reasonable person I’ve ever met.

Shirvell’s own Facebook profile is like a textbook definition of butthurt. He has definitely changed it a lot recently - I checked it out when this guy first came to my attention, to see if we had any friends in common. We didn’t, but now I can’t even see who his friends are.
Well, I used to be vastly more conservative in college than I am now. I got some of his e-mail rants and they were embarrassingly over the top. I remember him calling for a boycott of a pizza parlor because there was a gay pride sticker in the window.
I’m enjoying the chaos, but I know he’s never going to learn anything from it.
