The stupidhate - it burns! MI Asst Atty Gen's Gay Derangement Syndrome

I think it is repressed homosexuality and a big dose of jealousy that Chris Armstrong is comfortable with who he is and stuff like that.

My gaydar broke when I saw the videogoodness. I live in Michigan, and this is the first I’ve heard of any of this. What a weird fixation. To all the Homo Wolverines and Homo Sparties ( is that a redundancy?) out there, STAY STRONG! Not everyone in this state is that crazy.

That looks an awful lot like a fake profile that someone else made, what with Liking groups such as “Mike Cox, Fuck Andrew Shirvell, Fire Assistant Attorney General Andrew Shirvell, Fire Andrew Shirvell, Tell Andrew Shirvell How You Feel About Him, Andrew Shirvell got ass fuxked by Anderson Copper of CNN”.

I’d imagine the real Andrew Shirvell would be a fan Mike Cox, the Attorney General of Michigan, who’s his boss and who’s campaign he managed. The others, not so much, I suppose.

As a UM student, I’m surprised that today is the first I’ve heard of this, and off the Dope to boot. I guess I’m out of the loop though because this is also the first I’ve heard of Chris Armstrong. (I’m a grad student)

I’m not sure what Chris needs to be worried about though. Clearly no one sane will take Shirvell seriously, thus tarnishing Armstrong’s reputation. If he starts personally approaching him, I’m sure there’s ground for a restraining order, but just let the guy stew in his idiocy otherwise. Is it really worth giving him a national spotlight just so that we can feel good about shitting on him?

I’m seeing this as a career move, after he gets eased out of his current position.

Of course, if anything happens to him due to his homophobic nuttery, you can count on it that he will become a right-wing nutjob martyr. Of course, the right-wing won’t actually be able to have him speak or show any of his actual work, but they will TALK about how he was persecuted for his politically-incorrect beliefs.

If ever there is someone who needs to be totally ignored by everyone, this is him.

I suppose Bricker can defend himself, but I don’t think this is a fair characterization of what he is saying in that thread. He does seem to be saying that it is likely that Shirvell can’t be fired outright for anything he has done so far. Bricker also seems to be open to anyone making a case that this behavior is something that might be addressed by a restraining order, but, as usual, he is mostly speaking to the application of existing law.

Anyway, Guin, do read the other thread if you want to know all about the legal ramifications.

I agree.

I’ve pretty much come to assume that any “anti-gay” politician is a huge, closeted homosexual.

Seems like Andrew Shirvell is a secret fan of Mike Cox, your cox, and perhaps a lot of other cox as well.

I live in Michigan, and “Mike Cox” still gets a giggle out of me every time I think about the name.

Holy guacamole. Watching A. Cooper go through the incredible stuff on Shirvell’s blog was bizarre, all right; Shirvell himself, speaking, sent the gaydar klaxon blaring.

Hal, I hate you. And I don’t even wanna know how come someone was deranged enough to not only come up with that mental image but go and* name *it.

I know, that’s crazy. Everybody knows that’s properly called a “blumpkinette”.

That’s the epitome of sanity and resonableness compared to what he’s up to now. I mean, people boycott companies for using Bible verses or ichthus fish, so having the same reaction to a gay pride sticker is not really over the top. But he seems to have considerably upped the crazy since then.

The part of this story that amazes me is that a grown adult who supposedly is educated can think that this kind of behavior is acceptable. Ignoring his rampant homophobia for one second, the fact that he thinks that cyber stalking someone and defaming them on the internet won’t get you in trouble just blows my mind.

I wonder if this will affect his character and fitness to practice law.

Seeing the video I had a thought: if there was ever a guy in need of someone to help him carry his luggage, that’s him. I can see from here he’s got a bad back.

Well, he’s in a state with no cyberbullying or cyberstalking law. He’s attacking a limited purpose public figure, which means that the bar for a defamation action is quite high.

He has acted (so far as I can tell) within the bounds of the law.

I find it interesting that he kept saying “But it’s a political campaign,” as if he or Anderson were presently running for some office. either separately or against each other.

The fact that he kept invoking a political scenario where every slimey, immature and obsessive things he is doing is okay is excellent commentary on the actual state of the body politic today because his tactics are almost exactly characteristic of what has become a major part of how actual campaigns are run today.

I see what you did there.

Isn’t the standard malice or a reckless disregard for the truth for a public person? This comes pretty close in my opinion.

What statements, specifically, come close? Bear in mind the burden is on the plaintiff to prove falsity by “convincing clarity.”

Read the restraining order applicationfor a description of a real psycho. I hope Armstrong is carrying a gun because I honestly think this guy is dangerous. I just hope that if he kills anybody it’s himself.

As for Shirvell he looks like Nathan Thurmif Thurm was played by PeeWee Herman and he wants to suck a dick so bad his tonsils are tickling. Even his apartment (seen in one of the videos) looks gay. You wonder how somebody that deranged can hold it together long enough to make it through law school without either getting arrested or shot, let alone get a state job.
