I called 100 banks yesterday and 5 clients today and had to leave a call back message each time. I am taking the rest of the day off unless I hear back from any of them. I am drained

kaiwik and rosie asked me to post this recipe, which I kind of invented for dinner last night:
Cilantro-Lime Chipotle Chicken Slaw
1/2 cup mayo (plus a little more if needed)
1 chipotle in adobo sauce (minced; I usually blitz up a whole tin in the mini-processor, then just used 1 Tbs of the paste)
1½ Tbs Dijon mustard
1½ tsp cumin
3 Tbs lime juice (about 1½ limes)
salt and pepper
1 small red onion, finely diced
4 Tbs cilantro, coarsely chopped
1 medium carrot, shredded
½ small white cabbage, finely sliced
3-4 cups chopped, cooked chicken
- In a small bowl, mix mayo, chipotle, Dijon, cumin, lime juice, salt and pepper…
- In a separate bowl, stir red onion and cilantro, shredded carrot, cabbage and chicken together, then pour mayo mix over it and stir all together. Add more mayo and lime juice if the mix appears a little dry.
- Cool in fridge for several hours to let flavours merge, then serve in lettuce wraps, with some avocado or on French bread with a slice of provolone.

I didn’t make all those screen prints and annotate them as a hobby!
Did I mention that I had to stop a daily pain med 10 days before the surgery, so I’m a wee bit testy now?

Yet another close call! It was starting to thunder (and thunders as I type) when I was walking home from my bus. Luckily, I have to walk a reasonably small distance, but still, thank God it wasn’t raining when I was walking.
And it’s starting to get windy out there too…we may have severe thunderstorms today…
Barely slept last night, so vewy tired today. I think I’m enrolled on the security course though. The bad news is I have to do a week long ‘Customer Service’ thing (again) as part of it- basically, that’s the only way they can weasel government funding, as apparently they don’t like paying for courses that might actually get people… you know… jobs. At least they were upfront about that being the case, and the people running it seem pretty nice, and actually realise that a)it’s not something anyone there wants to be on, and b)it’s probably not going to be useful, it’s just the only way they can run it. I still haven’t found out if I need to pay the £250 for a card at the end of it of if the work progreamme eejits will pay- apparently there’s a big demand for female security staff, and you have a year after the course to send off for it, so it’d probably be worth it.
We had to do some basic literacy and numeracy test stuff as a prerequisite, and I know this is really mean, but I kind of hope one guy there failed (he’d nowhere near finished in the time limit, so he probably did). He was being such a dick- he spent 10 minutes arguing that he shouldn’t need to produce both halves of his driving licence as ID as required (it has both a photocard and a paper component), before he finally admitted that he actually had the other half in his pocket. He then proceeded to argue that the two halves counted as two seperate forms of ID, so they didn’t need to see his passport, for another bleedin’ 10 minutes, while everyone else sat round and waited.
He had his passport in his pocket too.
He seemed to think this was hilarious :rolleyes: and kept that sort of thing up all day.
And now it’s raining crazy hard with picking up winds…
We just had a building evacuation. In the rain… :rolleyes:

Who? I’m glad you didn’t get wet. The local forecast states that occasional thunderstorms may start at 7:15 p.m. This amuses me. Thunderstorms have permission to start but not before 7:15 p.m.
sari I was kinda surprised that my two older brothers didn’t have hissy fits when mom started seein’ Frank and then decided to marry him. They were all cool with it just like sis and me. I am happy she found someone she feels good about and is a really nice guy.

Fairychat, what flavor of engineers are you and your Spouse? Even an Instrumentation and Electronics engineer such as myself has had statics and mechanics of materials, so I’d think you would agree on rafters or a truss.
I’m an Aero Engineer, spousal unit is a mechanical engineer. Both of us were electronics techs in the Navy. We R SMRT!!
Then he is one up on you for designing trusses and rafters.
