Will there be an open bar? That makes things sort of better. Sorry the weekend looks sucky.
Off to Costco to renew my membership, and buy unnecessary food for the weekend. So far in a whole year I don’t think I’ve bought anything really stupid there, like a huge cheesecake. I think it’s some kind of record. It makes me want to buy cream puffs or cheesecake or something.
Would you like some of mine? I just spent $50 at theringlord.com, on chainmail links. I did it because someone complimented my new necklace last week, and told me to start selling my stuff again. That sort of thing goes to my head. I have boxes and boxes of seed beads, fabric, bits of chain, rhinestones…
Bumba, do you have any chocolately or vanilla-y soaps right now? I’m going to order some, but I’d like a candy-scented one if you’ve got any.
We could do a bead swap! I have lots of beads that I’ll never use, and it would be fun to trade them for something new and different. I have mostly glass beads in different fun shapes and colors. Do you have anything you want to get rid of?
I haven’t done any jewelry in a long time. I have some sewing and knitting projects I have to finish first (I’m going to attempt to knit my mom a hat for Christmas, but I’m trying to do a felted hat, and it’s turning out to be more complicated than I thought it would be, so it’s taking a long time to finish).
That sounds like fun! :pause: does this mean I have to overhaul my bead collection? I think it may be rabid or died of starvation. I haven’t done needle and thread beadwork in a couple of years, so I have tonnes of seed beads sitting around, being sad and neglected. Also lots of crystals and broken bits of bead and wire jewelry. And a hundred little scraps of silk.
How much is a couple bars again, Bumba? Incidentally, I am back from Costco and the silliest thing I bought was a roast chicken. I did not buy a chocolate mousse cake or any cream puffs. I am strong!
Just got off the phone with Mr. Taters. Apparently, he and I are going out to dinner and a movie. We’re going to Emily (Ithink that’s the name of the movie).
The VTC did not go overly long, however, I came out of it fairly thrumming with with frustration. Look closely…no, look reeeeeaaal close…put your eyes right up by the monitor…do you see blood on my forehead? You should. I feel like I’ve been banging my head against a brick wall since February. I have a monthly report that I prepare and send to our higher headquarters in Texas. I’ve been telling them (I’m sure other regions have too) that we cannot accurately report results on consults on data from the previous month. Why? Because patients have somewhere from 90 to 120 days to make an appointment once they receive a referral. If a patient receives a referral 20 August, he may well not make an appointment until October. This is assinine. We must count the referral, but we don’t have results (which they want to see). Well, they’ve changed the format and requirements of this report, yet AGAIN, and not only must we that, we must report results on DME (durable medial equipment). What does this mean? It means that we somehow need to find out that patients we referred to the contractor, who then sent them to a doc, who said they must have DME, RECEIVED their DME from the appropriate vendor. We don’t track this. We have thousands of patients. We now need to come up with a way to do this. Short of calling every friggin’ patient (and NO, this is not an option), I haven’t wrapped my brain around how we’re going to do this. Argh!!! Higher HQ even TOLD us they know we don’t have a way to track this, but to figure it out in the next week and a half when our next report is due. That must be some real rarified air they’re inhaling down there is all I’ve got to say. I’m sure we’ll come up with something, but I’m not sure we’ll even come up with an 80% solution in the next week and a half. Frankly, they should have told us BEFORE now so we could have started working on a solution sooner, instead of trying to pull something out of our lower orifices.
I’m so glad I only have about 30 minutes left here today.
Sorry everyone’s having a crappy week… (OK - most people). Mine was just blah. Although we did go out to lunch today, to the Elevator, where we enjoyed the Almond Crusted Chicken Salad, which is a must-order item. A couple of friends and I go there every couple of weeks and lately, it’s all we order (the waitstaff love us…) Yum. I’m having the leftovers for dinner in a few.
I’m hoping I can be semi-inspired this weekend. I have lots I should do, but it’s been hard to get to it lately. Work stress etc. etc. etc.
Lissla, the soap is only $3.00 a bar, it’s the shipping that’s bad, on account of you being in Canada. I’m still wandering around the USPS site trying to get an answer to that.
The one good thing I can say about the trip thus far is that there was no traffic once I got out of New Jersey, and the hotel I stopped at for the night has internet access.
What’s up? Is everybody sleeping in today? Usually has an early Saturday morning post in here.
We slept in too. It’s gray and rainy outside today. That’s okay, we need the rain.
We ate Chinese food last night and went and saw The Exorcism of Emily Rose . The movie was okay. It’s supposedly based on a true story. It wasn’t all gory and well Exorcist like. At any rate, it wasn’t scary at all. I’m such a big cynic.
I was just cruising the HGTV website and noticed that their next big Dream Home giveaway is for a home on Lake Lure in North Carolina. I guess that’s somewhere around Asheville. It looks pretty there. I always enter the Dream Home contests; not because I particularly want the home, but because I’d sell it and build what I want here in Washington. This is assuming I’d actually win the home. Like that would really happen… Eh, the dream homes never have enough bedrooms anyway, and frankly, the property taxes would be outrageous.
I slept in this morning, and then I picked some blueberries. I didn’t get as many this time, but it’s enough to make some blueberry muffins or cake. Maybe I’ll do a little baking today.
I have a fun afternoon planned–I need to apply for some jobs, so I’m going to be writing lots of cover letters. I hate writing cover letters.
Just send them homemade cake insted of a cover letter. Much better.
I’ve got a bad crick in my neck. I don’t know what I did, but it hurts a lot to turn my head to the left. Grr. It’s making me feel all lazy and protective of my neck. I should do the dishes before work, but I’m in pain, so instead I’ll lie around on the couch reading.
It’s about launchtime. Leftover spaghetti, barbeque beef (thank you swampy), bacon and eggs, yogurt? So much decisioning.
I haven’t done anything productive yet, I haven’t even taken a shower. I’m drinking my coffee and cruising the boards. I should do something, but today just kinda feels like it should be a curl up with a good book day. Unfortunately, I’ve read all my books.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who enters these things with that same thought. I, also, haven’t won yet.
I rolled out of bed just in time to get ready to go work at the park where I volunteer. Spent a lovely morning weeding and chatting and cutting back dead stuff. Planning to do same kind of stuff late afternoon around here.
There’s a big football game tonight and everywhere I’ve been so far, there are Buckeye fans in Ohio State regalia, including the lovely buckeye necklaces. We’re playing Texas, which is apparently a very big deal as we’ve never played them before and they’re ranked higer than we are. There are all kinds of Texas-related rumors flying around. Best one I’ve heard so far is that the owner of the Dallas Cowboys rented two sky boxes in the stadium and has rented the Jack Nicklaus museum for the victory celebration where entertainment will be provided by the Dixie Chicks. There was also a Matthew McConaughey rumor floating around (he was allegedly renting part of a restaurant or something). Pretty exciting. I’ll probably watch the last five minutes of the game. If I remember.
Nothing really big planned for the weekend yet. I’m still envious of MagicEyes getting to pick blueberries.
Hope the wedding is less awful than you feared, Draelin.
I’m so glad that I have a place to post random occurences that (now) won’t hog up an MPSIMS thread for no reason.
Occurence is such: I go to Waffle House, and get a wrap. I go to put a few drops of Tabasco on my wrap. Some mouthbreather took the little restrictive cap off of the bottle of sauce, thus making it gush out in torrents onto my wrap. Being the hungry guy that I was, and given the WH’s staff’s unwillingness to make me another one (which is understandable), I dumped as much of it out as possible and then ate it.
My stomach protested.
I ignored it.
I now have horrible, horse-killing gas, and am battling a losing battle with poop.
donkey, that was way TMI. You win the TMI award for this week! I didn’t even know Waffle House had wraps. What kind of wraps? Are they good?
I’m still sewing, haven’t started on cover lettters yet. Lissla, I like the idea of sending everyone a cake. Maybe I’ll start sending little gifts with my resumes, so they’ll remember me. In a good way, I hope.
