Consumers as a conglomerate have a tremendous amount of power if … IF … they act of one accord. If it’s that bad, and it certainly sounds like it, it should die a quick death because no one should be back for a 2nd time. Let’s see if that happens.
I suspect it’s the “carafe of coffee” thing that really made them take off.
They really leaned into the “community” aspect of their sales, particularly targeted at the “Hockey Mom” and “Hockey Dad” demographic. I don’t know anywhere else where they make it possible to pick up coffee and donuts for a group of people in such an easy-to-carry format. Showing up to 5:30AM hockey practice with donuts and coffee for all the parents became a big social thing, and that built their brand.
Useless onions? Why I thought that that was a subtle plot to ensure that Canadian Women always have their legendary clean fresh breath…
“The Tim Horton pulled pork sandwich: Now with Retsin…!”
I couldn’t tell you the last time I even drove past one. The closet one to me that I can think of is now… a Tim Hortons.
I live near the Canadian border, but I can’t remember the last time I went to a Tim Horton’s. More than a decade ago, less than 20 years ago. Of course I’d heard about how awesome their coffee and doughnuts were.
Yeah… Not so much. The coffee was nothing special. (Heck 7-11 has better coffee.) The doughnut, as nearly as I can remember, was unmemorable. Nowhere near as good as Winchell’s or Spudnuts.
I don’t eat doughnuts or fast food anymore; so for me, the point is moot.
There is a Country Style near one of my clients, and I’ve stopped there a few times. The coffee was tolerable.
Black coffee with two cream and two sugar is a coffee-flavored milkshake? Gimme a break.
Do you really think it is just a normal two creamers in a Timmies double double?
I certainly don’t. I think they add a lot more rich cream then was typical before the double double became a thing. A Timmies double double is more like 4 to 6 of the little table creamers. They are rich, and really really sweet. Its not just extra cream and sugar
Look Im sorry for being judgy about other people’s taste, that’s out of line. For someone like me that drinks their coffee black though, a double double is a lot closer to ice cream than it is to coffee.
I am not kidding at all about it being a milk shake. They are crazy rich. Obviously a lot of people like their double double, and I really think that beverage and the way they did it is part of what made Tim Horton’s a thing.
