What is it about Timmy’s coffee that makes us Canadians line up for it the way we do? Is it really any different than any other coffee? (I’m willing to have blind faith in it and consider it the best either way.) Hell, even their tea seems to be better than mine at home. What the heck to they have in their water there that I don’t have?
We have Tim’s here in the States, too. I’m unnaturally fond of tea biscuits (eaten with actual tea!) and their macaroons. But not the ones dipped in chocolate.
Tim’s is the official hangout for my three best friends from high school and me. We even call ourselves the Tim Horton’s Gang. A little juvenile for a bunch of women in their 20’s, but I guess you have to hang on to at least some of your childhood.
Now, off to the Tim’s for Timbits and English toffee cappuccino. Thank goodness the drive thru is open 24-hours!
We’ve got one on campus, and is it ever a God send. I must admit I spend a bit too much time drinking their coffee, especially around exam time.
I’m not sure why we canadains have such an attraction to Timmys. I think a large part of it is the fact that it is just so… so Canadian. It’s an institution.
That would explain why for a town of about 80,000 we have 6 stores, plus one more on the way.

That’s a lotta dimp…

I’ve heard that the coffee has nicotine in it. I don’t believe this for one second, but it would explain the addictive thing.
I wish there were a Tim’s in NYC. Timbits are so very superior to those things that they sell at that store that thinks that the letters C and K are interchangable…
My parents send me Tim’s coffee, so I can make it at home. When we went to NYDope, Mnementh brought me Tim-Bits. A friend in Columbus sent me Tim-Bits by overnight courier.
One day, I will be allowed to leave the country. That would mean my first stop is Timmy’s. Sure, I could go to Buffalo, but why?
I dunno, but the coffee is pure liquid ambrosia…although they may be pushing Canadian’s loyalties it when they start making their pre fried donuts…allegedly for quality control purposes. Apparently they will ship them half fried and frozen to the store where they will be popped into the fryer and finished…sorta like a donut steak frite…
Mrs. Raven and I did a 900 mile lap of Nova Scotia this summer, and we got hooked on Tim’s something fierce.
Mmmmmm…Canadian Maple donuts… glurgleglurgHUHOh sorry, just reminiscing
Finding a Tim’s became a part of the daily road plan, in fact we backtracked 14 miles along the highway because there was a Tim’s at the previous exit we’d missed!
How funny that I come across this thread just as I am taking the last sip of my morning Tim’s coffee.
Coming from the Tim Horton’s Capital of the World, I have to say that a Timmy’s on nearly every corner really is a good thing. And they are all totally successful!
I must admit the teabiscuits are my favourite also.
And yes, a Tim’s on campus was a godsend.
For all you Cafe Mocha fans out there…save yourself some money and just order a half coffee, half hot chocolate. Exact same as the cafe mocha, just without the whipped cream, and you only get charged the price of the coffee.
Wouldn’t liquid ambrosia be nectar? Heheh, that is actually what I call Tim Horton’s coffee…Nectar of the Gods.
Ya know, growing up a minority in the minority province, I never saw Tim Horton’s. Never even *heard * of it, and it never really pinged on the consciousness until I moved to BC and they started running those dopey ads.
But knowing about it makes Wayne’s World much funnier.
yum, honey crueller and French vanilla, I even like their iced capechinos …taste as good as star bucks but cheaper…and I’m happy that you can get timmys at esso.
I have a bit of a mistrust of the gas station Timmy’s. Something just doesn’t seem right about them. I don’t eat their donuts either. Something about coffee and donuts amid the gas and oil just doesn’t sit right with me. But, if there are no ‘real’ Timmy’s around, I’ll definitely take it. Sad.
And for you South Park fans, I have taken to yellying ‘Timmay!’ whenever I pass a TH on a road trip. That may even be sadder.
I was in Canada a couple months ago and got introduced to Tim Horton’s. I wish we had some around here. Their muffins, especially the strawberry-filled ones, were very good.
I like the concept of a chain store with morning stuff (donuts etc) AND lunch/dinner stuff (soups and sandwiches) all at the same time. I’m sure there are stores like that down here in the States but I don’t know of any.
