I may grate some pepper jack into the mix just to give it some zip.
The shop’s invoice says the CA-approved, non-CARB certified catalytic converter costs $1,299.58, the oxygen sensor is $197.79, and shop supplies are $40. Labour charges are $135 for the cat, $108 for the O2 sensor, and $7.29 for HAZMAT fee. With tax, the total is $1,940.81. They said the catalytic converter shield ($160 from Amazon) should cost about $60, but they didn’t give me an exact price. Let’s call it $2,200 for everything.
The 2004-2009 Priuses use the same parts. Any idea why it’s $500 more than here?
Glad your mom is getting sprung sari.
It’s been a weird day. First, I got sent home. Then, the local police came knocking. Apparently, one of my cow-orkers requested a welfare check because she hadn’t seen me around for a week. Who knew they would act on that suggestion?
Anyhow, I’m gonna try going in again tomorrow. I know I’ll have some paperwork to take care of, but oh, well.
I’m glad they came looking! Was Nelson appropriately cute?
The inference I got was that if you got married your spouse would be your new pet, with all the attendant training and messes involved therein.
I do that sometimes, although maybe not the same brands (I tend toward store brands). I usually add some drained canned corn and maybe extra shredded cheese.
I also buy the store brand, and when I’m heating up the water to cook the mac, I throw in frozen peas - mac-n-cheese-n-peas! YUM!
My daughter just shared a video with me - Roxy singing along with Let It Go! OMG, that kid is a hoot! Then when the song finished, she said “Alexa, play Elsa again!”
And apparently Toby is starting to giggle. Grandkids are da best!
Supper was salad for both, chili for FCD, and a semi-thrown-together pulled poke for me. He did the dishes and I cleaned and filled the pellet stove - we’re ready for the return of the cold. I also scooped the cat box (forgot to do it this morning - oops!) The dishwasher is sloshing along and I’m about to assume the recline position. It’s still in the 70s, but rain is moving in and I guess I’ll be closing windows before too long. Dammit.
He acted like my bodyguard (all 16# of him
)
The mac dish that some of you are describing is what my great nephew used to call macaroni mess. It was a way to get some veggies into a picky preschooler. Fortunately, he became a much more adventurous eater.
Hoo, with gas above $5 a gallon here in the bay area, I tried to bring up gasbuddy.com to see where the cheapest places are. I keep getting a 503 error, I suppose because everybody else is doing the same thing and their website is crashing.
At a cheapish 7-Eleven in my town, regular gas was $5.79 this morning!
I admit that I am a fussy shopper but I generally do not buy the store brands. My local grocery chain is HyVee. For example.
Kikkoman Soy Sauce ingredients: water, soybeans, wheat, salt. They have been making soy sauce for 300 years.
HyVee Soy Sauce ingredients: water, corn syrup, salt, hydrolyzed corn and soybean protein, caramel color, lactic acid, potassium sorbate as a preservative
One is a food ingredient. The other is a science experiment
Any idea why it’s $500 more than here?
The part alone is listed as $2,438+, “exhaust pipe”. The rest is tax (is NE tax rate higher?). Perhaps they damaged more of our exhaust system? It is listed as an aftermarket part, not OEM. Nothing about O2 sensor. Only one hour of labor.
State Farm insurance.
Howdy friends. Just checking in to say I’m ok. I’m gonna be working 7 days for a while, this project has ballooned. I’ve put an end to more adds for me. If’n they want more stuff, they’ve got to go to someone else. Now I just need to build the huge pile of stuff I already have.
Evening all. Last of 5 loads of laundry are in the dryer, was going to make it 6 but have only used 3 of my 6 pairs of blue jeans so far, so I’ll wait until I get a larger load of them. Also need to take my slacks to the dry cleaner sometime this week, that should pretty well take care of my March washing duties.
Got up to 900 yards swimming today, so we’ll see how I feel tonight and tomorrow. Rain has finally departed, but more rain is forecast for tomorrow afternoon and evening. Temperature is down to 44F, even with the house holding the heat pretty well, may kick the thermostat up a bit.
VanGo, keep in touch, hopefully the laborer is worth good wages…
Flyboy, BBBoo, glad my car is in a garage; never knew the Catalytic Converter cost so much to replace.
hippie, I try not to read labels; it’s depressing. Enjoy your Kikoman’s.
FCM, kids sound great; I had my Big Bowl of Sallit today, normally I eat that Saturday or Sunday but had a bad case of the ‘don’t wannas’ and the bags expiration date was tomorrow, so healthy eating for me tonight. Mac-n-Cheese tomorrow.
red, at least your cow-orkers care about you; or they want to get their application in for your job if you’ve croaked…

Buzzy, welcome, pull up a chair and stay awhile. Anything mundane and pointless is welcome here.
Cookie, your junk is somebody else’s stuff; I think George Carlin did a riff on that once.
OK, need to get the sheets out of the dryer in a little while and make my bed up so when sleep falls upon me I have a place to rest my head. All y’all take care.
The inference I got was that if you got married your spouse would be your new pet, with all the attendant training and messes involved therein.
Oh! HA!! That’s actually pretty funny. ![]()
(Sorry, my Out of Sorts brain was misfiring all day… *sigh*)
I guess I’ll be closing windows before too long
I closed mine about an hour ago, when it suddenly started to rain kinda hard with tons of wind. I don’t think the sturm und drang lasted long, but I didn’t want to risk rain getting into the bedroom or on the pile of clean sheets that are on the dining room table right under that window (pls don’t judge me).
I generally do not buy the store brands
Same here: the store brand versions of things are often too sweet and/or salty for my taste. I think the only store brand I’ve been OK with in the past few years was some canned cream of mushroom soup (acceptable, but not as good as Campbell’s).
Just checking in to say I’m ok. I’m gonna be working 7 days for a while
I’m glad you let us know. ![]()
The part alone is listed as $2,438+, “exhaust pipe”. The rest is tax (is NE tax rate higher?).
Wow. My new cat was a lot less. Sales tax (according to google) is 8.8%. (It varies by where you live.)
The invoice came to $2,010.40. But when I looked at my credit card receipt, it said $201.40. I’ll have to call them tomorrow. If they can’t charge my card over the phone, I’ll have to go in Thursday.
Howdy Y’all! Twuck got fed, I survived
Wally*World
and sup got cooked and et. Nappage and general sloth were also accomplished.
Hippie what a great memory of Leo B and the stew. The high today was 88. The high Sattidy will be 53. Pre-Spring weather by Sybil.
VanGo happy never endin’ set buildin’. The more he designs the more you get paid, right?
MetalMouse no rain here yet, but TWPTB say so for Wednesday, Thursday and Firday. We shall see.
sari glad mom is gettin’ sprung from the horsepistol. Hope sahson’s unemployment woes are over soonest.
MOOOOOOM what WILL the neighbors say about all those nekkid ladies in your front yahd!
flyboy yay for new catalytic converter!
Buzzy all it takes to be a MMP cool kid is to show up. Welcome!
cookie and nettie who knew y’all were such gourmets!
happy birthday but today is sad for me as its my long-departed mommys b-day and I miss her so much …
So sorry for that. I’ve been missing my mom too because of just a lot of little things.
Holy cats, that was a front that just went through. It went from 60 to 35 with a huge downpour and big winds in about 2 hours.
Did burger and friess with an Old Fashioned for dinner tonight.
And I figure I can do at least one more dog. Maybe more if I go for seniors. ![]()
I’m at least 2% cheese today
You’re 5% of the way to being a Wisconsinite. Congrats! ![]()
I’ve got a blister on my right thumb.
Earworm:
The new catalytic converter has been installed.
One went through Smalls today. Must have been a motorcycle one, judging by the size.
Do we have to accept FIRST! entry for the MMP just askin.
Welcome Buzzy!
Another frustration.
SWMBO wanted pizza for dinner. I had a ‘Piece of the Pie’ reward with Domino’s. So I ordered the free pizza, hot wings, and lava cakes. Except the reward wasn’t applied. So I tried again, It wasn’t applied. I tried again. It wasn’t applied. I called the store, and they were not trained to deal with the circumstance. I’d have to call the 800 number. I did that. The options were English, or Spanish. I chose English. The options were ‘Help me order a pizza’, or something else (find locations?). I tried the former. I wanted to talk to a person, so I hit 0. The bot told me that 0 is an invalid option, So I chose the valid option. It told me I’d chosen an invalid option and hung up on me. I tried again. English, valid option. The ‘help’ was ‘To order a pizza, just go to our website!’ It hung up on me. So I went to the website, went to Customer Support, found ‘How to redeem my reward’, and was FINALLY able to order the pizza. Except… After trying to order online three time, the final time I forgot to order the toppings. So we got a cheese pizza. DAMMIT! Mrs. L.A. said we couold just put pepperoni on it. I got dressed to go to the store. I know the corner market doesn’t have pepperoni, so I was going to drive 4 miles to the supermarket. SWMBO got mad at me, and looked in the fridge and found ham. ‘We can just put ham on it!’ So not only am I pissed off that Domino’s online ordering distracted me to the point I forgot to add toppings, The Wife is mad at me for being pisseed off at myself.
I didn’t even want pizza tonight.
