My worse knee, aka the one that’s had 3 surgeries, is acting up. But the pain is in a completely new spot. Huzzah. Doesn’t feel like floating scar tissue like last time…dunno.
flyboy Happy for the quieted car, unhappy for the costs.
nut Mmmmm I like cheese.
doggio It took me a while to remember the blister from that song. Nice pick.
flyboy Just read your Domino’s rant. LOL, for real. Nicely ranted. That much trouble for fricken Domino’s pizza? I would have bailed at the first fail. The best bit was “I didn’t even want pizza tonight.” Reminds me of Clerks “I wasn’t even supposed to be working tonight.”
A fine rant indeed. I enjoyed it at least as much as a Domino’s pizza! look! mine has pepperoni on it~success with intertoobz pizza at your fingertips.
yeah, dominos have fallen a bit … I asked for some of their honey bbq glazed wings and apparently, they were out so instead of saying " oh we don’t have any" so they just opened a couple of dip cups and poured it over some plain wings …// I appreciate the try but man whatta mess …
Hurray for too tough to die kitties. Our Best Cat in the World came to us dying and managed to last for 4 more years before he couldn’t fight anymore. I still miss him. /wipes eyes/
Happy Birthday BooFae!!!
We weren’t going to get any more cats after our 18 and 12 year old cats were gone, and if we did need another one, we would do the very low cost senior pet for senior people thing. But then the world ended and hubs turned stupid and I bought a grudge kitten and here we are.
Thank you so much. This has been my earworm all day:
While flyboy’s rant was one for the records, all I could think of was how much I would love to be able to dial a number and have a pizza arrive.
Back when we lived in the city, we could order a “heart attack in a box” that I still miss. White bread crust, three layers of white cheese, two layers of white sauce and a whole bunch of garlic. T’waz amazing.
Hub’s no carb nowadays so even if we could have a pizza delivered, he wouldn’t want it.
When I picked my needlework house up from the framer, I loved the frame and matting, but when I got it home, I noticed that he had not framed it straight (it was off about 1/10 of an inch, that there was a loose colored thread under the openwork and that there was a piece of lint under the glass.
The framer has already told me that I’m the first textile arts person he’s had in his shop, so I am pretty sure that when I bring that piece back and explain what the problems are while assuring him that I will pay for the do-over, I think we will be good. It’s really hard to get a good framer, so I’m willing to try to train one to do what I want. I’m also going to give him the last piece I finished, so he will know that I trust him, I’m just a super picky person when it comes to my needlework.
Hubby and I went and got tested on Sunday evening, and yesterday we got the results. Both negative, which means he has to go to the doctor, to get a doctor’s note, unless he’s feeling a lot better this morning. So it seems he has a proper flu. And I have a very light case, or haven’t deteriorated yet. We shall see.
For Monday morning I didn’t set the alarm, because I knew we both needed the sleep. For this morning, I messed it up, and woke up at 6:50. And the post says they will deliver a package between 7:00 and 11:00. The van is still at the post office (that’s how close we are), but as soon as it starts moving, I can expect them to ring twice.
Ordered groceries to be delivered at 17:30 today. Then I will have the fixings for monte cristos - aka tomorrow’s lunch. Today we will have a combination of leftovers bean & pasta soup for him, and taco for me.
Need caffeine. Think I’ll go for a cup of tea (sorry, it’s with a tea bag, for the tea connasewers (that’s how I’m spelling it)).
I’m so sorry, buddy. I wish I had something more useful to say.
If it makes you feel any better, I have a hamper full of clean sheets shoved into an out-of-the-way corner for … ummm … oh, gawds, it’s been at least a month by now.
I don’t need the damn things and have run out of space in my hobbit-hole closet (this place is too small to have a separate linen closet … hell, the second bedroom doesn’t even have a closet at all) so ignoring that hamper-pile turned into my “storage” solution.
I don’t see any difference between name brand frozen green beans and store brand or most pasta products, for example, but there are some store brand/generics that I do avoid. PB is one of those things, TP is another. I look at labels side-by-side to decide. And boxed mac-n-cheese is boringly generic enough that it doesn’t matter.
We got some rain overnight, and the temps definitely dropped - it’s 44° now heading to a high of maybe 53. My sister was going to come over today to see Toby - I assume she still will. Not sure what I’ll feed her for lunch, tho - she’s super picky. She’s OK with mac-n-cheese, but she may be a brand snob. I could do grilled cheese, but I don’t have boring plain white bread and I’m not sure she’ll eat the equally white Italian bread. I’ve got Campbell’s soup, but it’s the chunky style in the big cans, not the overly salty stuff in the little cans. She may end up eating boiled pasta with butter. No sense in even trying - she’s too set in her ways.
Apart from starting the pot roast in the slow cooker, I’ve got nothing exciting on tap today. Here’s hoping Toby isn’t crankypants.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 64 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 84 and cloudy with rain comin’ in late afternoonish. We shall see. Today is laundry day and the bug guy will be here at eight this mornin’. That is the big excitatement of the day. Sup shall be leftovers from yestiddy.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.
It’s currently 43 degrees and cloudy. Rain shall be moving in shortly, which means snow in the mountain passes. Unfortunately, I need to get over there, so we’ll be driving over in snow using a GOV minivan. I am not taking my Jeep, not at these gas prices! It’s near five bucks a gallon here and I have to run premium in my rig. So, I am driving as little as possible.
I’ll work for a few hours this morning, pack up and then head over the mountains to central Washington. Hopefully, the drive is uneventful and we’ll arrive around 4:00 or 5:00 pm. My co-worker and I will work our tails off all day tomorrow and in the morning on Thursday. In the late morning, we’ll head over to the new office site so I can visualize it, and then we’ll head home. At least, that’s the plan. If I feel we don’t have enough done, we’ll stay a little later in the day.
I managed to take a few hours off yesterday afternoon after my meetings and picked up Polar’s prescriptions, and some paint chip cards. We waved bye-bye t the skip/dumpster around 1:00 yesterday.
Welcome, buzzy!
I am done with Dominos. After spending fifty bucks for the last delivery, I told my husband we’re not ordering from them anymore for what is essentially pretty sucky pizza. They are 5/10ths of a mile away from my house.
Sending yays, boos and hugs as needed. Have a good day everyone.
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 7C/45F over here, and deceptively sunny 'cos I know it’s coooold out there. It was definitely coooold at 7am when I left the house to walk to the station. I was nicely warmed up by the time I got there (it’s just over a mile).
On the subject of pizza, Domino’s was far and away the worst pizza I have ever had. They are 0.6m away from my house, a 3 minute drive, and yet an order took 1hr 45mins to arrive and was pretty much cold by the time it got to me. This was a time when I wasn’t able to drive, and housebound, on my own, so thought I’d treat myself to pizza. Yeah, not happening again.
I’ve had mostly good experience with Domino’s, except that we’re outside of their delivery zone, so I have to drive into Leonardtown. I signed up on their app and I’ve never paid full price for anything - mostly $5.99 for medium 2-topping, which I think is a decent deal. Plus I like their crust now - it’s no longer the nasty, flavorless base that it used to be. The store is just far enough away that by the time I get there, they’re putting my order into the box, so it’s always hot.
Toby is here - apparently, he had a bad night, with a congested cough. Little coughing here so far, and he snarfed down 5oz of formula before filling his britches. Then again, if you start your day changing a poopy diaper, it can only get better, right?
I’ve just started the pot roast - spuds and carrots and more onions will be added later. For now it’s the meat with some onion and celery in the broth with seasonings on low. At lunch, I’ll bump it up to high and add the rest of the veggies. So my plan is set.
FCM, I thought I was a fussy eater, but your sister has me beat by a country mile.
flyboy, great rant, even if I don’t eat pizza.
Dicey, glad you and husband unit don’t have the COVID, get feeling better soon.
shady, family losses are always remembered, one way or another. Hugs.
Up about 6:15am today, a bit sore from the swimming but I’ll still try to get to the gym this morning since rain is due for an encore about 3pm and is sticking around until tomorrow morning. 41F now and only getting to 55F, so the heating unit will get a workout today. Nothing heavy on the schedule, we’ll see how the day goes.
Up at the crack o’ dawn for some reason. Fretting over our move, I guess. The thought of unpacking all this stuff at the other end gives me the shudders. While we have reduced inventory significantly, there are still at least 15 boxes of books that the wife couldn’t part with. Of that number, there are possibly four books that I care anything about. Don’t get me started on the tubs full of photographs downstairs that haven’t been looked at in 20 years.
Cornmeal pancakes for breakfast may cheer me up a bit.
She’s very brand-particular - like she’ll only eat one specific kind of plain potato chips - forget any flavors. She’s OK with tomato soup and tomato sauce on pasta, but no ketchup or actual tomatoes. When she went to Poland with my mom - she only ate at McD’s… And when she goes on cruises, no matter what dinner is, she orders a steak - medium well - and 2 baked potatoes. Period.
Honestly, I think the meningitis she had as a child messed with her brain - really. I have memories of her before and after.
Anyway, Toby is snoozing, so I’m going to empty the dishwasher while I have a few minutes.
Ursala Kitteh is sulking (most likely under the bed) because I dared to grab her to wipe away eye boogers. She fought me and knocked over her water bowl, but I won.
flyboy how old are you? I pictured you in your 30s but you referenced being with your insurance company for a looooong time.
shady my mom has been dead 11 years and I miss her every day.
Not too long ago, I sat down with my big box o’photos. Stuff like pictures in B&W taken on elementary school class field trips. I had no idea where they were taken or who was in the photos (I knew that man was a chaperone, not a teacher…) Plus the really bad photos - blurry or weird angles and such - all got tossed. I don’t recall the last time I had a photo printed, apart from our passport photos. All digital now, baybee!!!
