Come to find out one can now order a second batch of four free Covid tests via USPS. I just placed that order.
I like that way of thinking!
One of my favorite things to say when something small goes wrong: “If that’s the worst thing that happens to me today, I’m having a pretty good day!”
Domino’s Pizza was a staple for me during college. It wasn’t good, but I wasn’t picky. After decades, I had it again about 9 years ago (someone else’s choice) to find it had definitely improved over the years. However, I have not had it since then.
In other news, Mrs. Wheelz and I are flying to Las Vegas tomorrow. We’ll be looking at homes in the area for our eventual retirement. Rates are likely to go up soon, so we may decide to act sooner than later. Wish us luck!
I heaved. I hit Aldi. Apparently Tuesday is not a good day if you want chicken.
“Start every moring by eating a live frog. That way your sY CAN ONLY GET BETTER”
I have now. ![]()
Safe travels, Taters!
Haven’t taken a film photo in probably 20+ years. But there were a ton before that, along with all of the ones my wife brought to the marriage. Albums and more albums and still MORE albums that just scratch the surface, and tons of paper packets full of uncatalogued prints (with negatives). We need a major purge here.
I haven’t taken a film photo in at least a year. Maybe two years. I’m thinking I should sell most of my cameras. I like the Nikons. The Canons are nostalgic for me. The Pentaxes are Classic. But when it comes down to it, I really like my Olympus cameras.
Current status:
Rinsing blue dye out of my hair, and procrastinating on a badly-needed grocery run.
In honor of my persona here, there’s a (subtle) purple streak in there, too.
Sending hair pics to all my friends, so I can text back’n’forth and procrastinate further. (It’s social interaction! That’s important too, right?)
Washed a buncha dishes yesterday, so once they’re put away, my kitchen will be clean-ish.
Good luck with home shopping and have fun!
This morning I dropped Mauser off at the vet for his annual teeth cleaning. It’s done under sedation, so he had to have been fasting, which he wasn’t happy about. I just got two calls from the office, and my poor baby needs to have two teeth out. The first call was for one tooth, and the second was for another. The office calls for permission, even though I always sign to say they can do whatever the vet deems needed. So Mauser will have pain meds when I pick him up at 5:20PM today. He’s close to ten, so I shouldn’t be surprised, but since he hadn’t shown any discomfort before I feel guilty. That dog is never shy of eating.
Is it silly to be so worried for him?
Of course it’s not silly! I hope Mauser recovers easily.
The Dominoes is 2 blocks from our house in the valley, an easy walk. We really like their regular crust and their toppings are acceptable, if a little sparse, but I refuse to even try to order online anymore. As I’ve probably mentioned that I used to program IBM mainframes. Well, for the last several years of my career, I worked in offices full of PC ‘programmers’. I wouldn’t let those guys program a cheese sandwich. Sheesh!
Anyway, we’ve discovered that Safeway’s Signature Select rising crust frozen pizzas are just as good, and are on sale for ridiculous low prices every so often. I paid $2.97 a piece for some last week. Must get the ‘rising crust’ ones though. Their ‘ultra thin’ crust is like saltine crackers. And since you bake them yourself, you can add stuff.
Hope Mauser fells better soonish. We need to get Gibbs’ teeth looked at pretty soon too.
Trouble is, with his heart murmur, sedation can be problematic, according to the vet.
We decided to take the tall bookcase in the living room over the hill to the new house. We opened the cabinets on the bottom and they are stuffed full of shoe boxes full of photos. I didn’t even know they were in there. Wifey will have to deal with them. They’re all her family anyway.
Later.
I talked to El Jefe this morning. He seemed amenable to my coming into the office once a month. Not one to be greedy, I said I’d like to try once a week (I’m coming in twice a week now), and then maybe change it to once every other week. I don’t like the drive, I don’t like the expense of the drive, and I don’t like so much exposure to risk (especially after my catalytic converter was stolen!). On the other hand, I did have a bit of cabin fever the last couple of weeks.
Afternoon all. Did make it to the gym to push a few weights and today I set the pedal machine for 10 miles instead of 45 minutes. Took me a shade over 50 minutes but I got’er done and celebrated by eating the burger and fries I was supposed to get yesterday. I haven’t changed my eating habits (mostly bad) at all, just exercising and burning a few hundred extra calories a day should help out. We’ll see.
Also got the folks coming out Thursday to check the heating and cooling system and probably adding Freon to the AC unit. Considering the temperature won’t exceed 54F then, it may be a little early, but best to have the system ready when the temperatures start skyrocketing.
Flyboy, hope the shorter office times work to your (and bosses) benefit.
Cupcakes, hoping Mauser does well post-tooth-pulling and it doesn’t affect his apparently healthy appetite. And it is never silly to worry about a loved one, two or four or no-legged.
So we don’t get to see the pictures you’re sending to all your friends? I’m nonplussed…
My non has never been this plussed…

FCM, Cookie, Bumba, I have a huge collection of film photos, some going back to the early 1900’s, most of which are completely unorganized, but I’ve got them stored away so no pressure to get rid of them. Been a digital guy this century.
Wheelie, good luck on the house shopping.
FCM,
I’m the exact 100% opposite; I love ketchup and tomatoes but don;t touch soup or sauces made with them.
Well, I’m not quite that bad, and I did eat Chinese when in China, but I am a medium-well steak person too on cruises.
OK, need to think about doing some housework…ok, I’ve thought about it. All y’all take care.

Oooh! Hair share!
This is my hair before I chopped it, followed by Yoshi because he’s a goof:
There must be a way to resize those, but I don’t know it.
Yoshi looks like a very snuggly pup.
Pretty hair! I’m jealous of the purple streak - it looks way better than mine.
{ scritches for Yoshi }
He is very snuggly! He looks like a stuffed animal, and he is usually smiling, which is why I think the other picture is so funny. He looks so grumpy.
Yoshi smiling, even with a cone of shame:
Well, I am jealous of your hair. So we are a pair of hair-envy people, which is too a thing. Now.
Since we’re sharing hair photos:
You are both adorable!
