The "Traditional Start of Summer" MMP

Call it a “privilege,” it fits the strict definition… would you like to borrow my can of rolleyes to throw at the California judiciary?

Hi, I’m back from Córdoba. Neat place and it was the Ferias (which would have scared us away if we’d known), but most of the town is unaffected by them except for seeing lots of women in faralaes (what y’all think of as a flamenco dancer’s dress) and for many stores closing in the afternoons (as in, beyond siesta as well). Got tons of pics, haven’t uploaded them to the computer yet. Saw the mosque/cathedral, Medina Azahara, ate good food, had lots of ice cream, heard the guy who sells water at the door to Medina say that “May is a good month, it isn’t hot yet” (ah, true, 34ºC at 10am - 8am suntime- isn’t hot, not in Córdoba), went to the Ferial, had my yearly dose of alcohol (a glass of sangría), didn’t murder Mom or anything, refrained from pointing out to the imported guide at Sefarad House that Titus would have been very surprised to hear it was the Christians who destroyed the Second Temple, discovered a kind of tooled leather I didn’t know about (guadamecí, which is tooled and painted; the cordobán I knew about is tooled but not painted) and generally had a great time.

Will upload pics at some point :stuck_out_tongue:

Morning, another day of work. I hope the Wings roll over the Penguins tonight.

FCM, at least your zoo doesn’t reenact the Battle of Agincourt on your bed at 0500 every morning.

Good morning! I’m all bright eyed and bushy tailed, here at work and ready to take on the day! :stuck_out_tongue:

Actually, I do feel pretty good. It’s a gorgeous day, and I hope to get to enjoy it later.

Have a good one, guys…

Good morning everyone!

I’m up, the coffee is just about done brewing and I’m enjoying a little peace and quiet before the rest of household wakes up.

Plans call for workout, bike ride, chores and a 99 party at a friends house.

I hope my headache disappears soon…

Hey guys.

I am still in my pajamas but soon I’ll be dressed.

I finally organized and sorted through a huge pile of papers that were piled up on the kitchen counter for the past three weeks. I found my BG&E bill and Emissions Test Notice, both of which have been buried for awhile. Luckily I am not past due on either so it’s all good. I also cleaned out my freezer, which had several things in it that were so old I don’t remember buying them.

I’m packed to go to Mom and Dad’s (only for two nights so that was easy) and will get in the shower after this. I have a 2:30pm pedi and given how slowly I’m moving today I’ll just make it.

It’s a really nice day here and the Flea Markets are all over the place but luckily I will not have time to stop and indulge. I am a potentially large junk collector and I have really been successful in the past two and a half years in curbing my urge to hoard crap and I can’t give in to temptation.

Everybody have a lovely weekend!

**Creaky, **I meant to add my congrats to the chorus.

FCM, I remember those stupid desks too. They were hell on panty hose. It seems the Army specialized in having really beat to shit metal disks that had sharp, jagged edges, broken or cattywhumpus drawers, and bad paint jobs. I was forever snagging my hose on the corner of the desks.

It looks to be a glorious day out. I left the windows open all night and didn’t even get cold.

Lovely day here in the north-ish-east.
I am dressed, fed, medicated, and (thanks to Wonderful Tenant) caffeinated. I think I will actually run sme errands.

Skimmed. Mr. Lissar’s grading for his nidan (second degree black belt) today. Okay, he’s doing the one month before midterm exam. As is traditional before black belt gradings, he has leg problems today. Either you’re sick or have broken bones or something for every black belt grading.
I’m puttering and cleaning after a busy morning yardsaling. I love yard sales.

Home, hot and sweaty and in need of a shower. We scrubbed then installed our genoa, which is the big sail on the forestay. It’s in kinda bad shape, but we may be able to have it cut down, since it’s oversized. It would be lots cheaper than buying a new sail.

Anyway, on the way home, we stopped at Ruby Tuesday’s for salads, so I don’t have to cook supper. Yay.

Time to assume the knitting position. Gonna make a couple more hats for **MamaTigs’ **collection.

Howdy Y’all! I worked. I came home. I got in the pool for a while. Pizza Hut is makin’ dindin for a modest fee.

Tomorrow and Monday are my weekend. YAY!

I am showered and clad in a comfy robe/housecoat. I just finished some ice cream. Back to knitting. Ah, relaxation!!

I am so fucking pissed at the brat next door.:mad::mad:

We pulled up in our driveway upon our return from the bike ride, only to see the entire rear window of my daughter’s car shattered. The little fuck was throwing rocks at the retaining wall AGAIN and it bounced back and literally sailed through the rear window of my daughters car. It’s completely shattered with a large gaping hole on the passenger side.

We went and talked to the kid’s mother who assured us she’s paying for it. I told her to call her insurance company to see if her homeowner’s will cover it, otherwise she’s paying out of pocket.

Dammit! My daughter isn’t home, but my husband doesn’t want me to call her and ruin her weekend with her boyfriend. I don’t want to her to come tonight to see it and wonder what the hell happened.

We have told that little shit kid OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER again to stay out of the rocks and off our wall. The next door neighbor has told him, and several other neighbors have told him.

I’m sure it was very hard for his mother to fess up and she’s had a lot of shit going on, so this was just the icing on the cake. BUT…I’m not paying for her kid’s stupidity. He never listens and basically just gives you a big FUCK YOU look when you try to talk to him.

Arrrrrghhhhhhhh!

Argh! Taters, that fucking sucks. Little twit.

We are eating chocolate sponge pudding, and drinking raspberry dessert wine. Life is good right now.

Taters, that doth well and truly stink! ugh.

**FCD **is so upset about the crap at his work (not just the workman’s comp thing) that he’s starting to look again. I was perusing one site and found a job that could have had his name on it. He’s going to fill out the on-line app tomorrow. It’s in MD, and a slightly shorter commute. Any spare good thoughts you’ve got would be appreciated.

I think I’m going to go crash. Ah’s tahred… Look at that - I’m channeling swampy!!

Worked, my back is spasming(N.O.S.). Wings and Pens are tied.

FCM(or is it FairyChatBear?;)), hope FCD finds a better job.

Taters, that sucks.

Good luck to Mr. Lisslar! I won’t say “break a leg”

I am pleased with myself - I left the house around 2pm - went to the post office, DD for more coffee, the bank, the drug store, then to the mall - in which I actually walked a significant (for me) distance to the Apple store (I will be upgrading this summer) then back to the car - I passed a store in the mall whose name is my name. I was tempted to go in and ask for a discount for that very reason, but the fashions were very prom-y size 0 dresses, covered in glitter and glitz - not my style.
I got home a little after 5 and sat down here - and played that fershluggineh mushroom game for seven hours.
I am going to bed now.

Hey! Dem’s fightin’ words, boy! :stuck_out_tongue:

Talk about a rude awakening - I was lying under the covers with my arm around my sweetie listening to the rustle of the leaves, trying to figure out if it was wind or rain. Then there was a hugely disturbing CRASH of thunder to answer. Holy crap!!

So, I surrendered to the inevitable and got up. Scruffy and Bernie both walked out the door then back in again, but when I opened the garage door, they managed to waddle to the grass and pee. So that’s good. They’re both crashed, **FCD **is crashed, daughter has left for Faire duty, SIL is crashed (I guess) and psycho kittehs are racing around and rasslin’. Ziva doesn’t meow - she just purrs a lot, or makes the pathetic, strangled squeek noise when displeased. She’s been making that noise a lot, thanks to Taz’s desire to rassle.

In theory, this rain will pass early and the afternoon will be sunny. It’s still thundering, but it’s not directly overhead, so that’s nice. I could get back into bed… hmmmmmmm…

Good Sunday morning all! I am feeling a bit better today than yesterday, when I was a little under the weather. I’m up and caffeinated today, though, and like FCM was awakened earlier by the crash of thunder.

Yay for Swampy’s new computer! Boo for Taz peein’ on the pillow, though - definitely a list-maker!

Hoping for a break in the storm activity to be able to grocery shop. LOL Then again … maybe not! Yeah, I gotta hit the store before the church goers get there!!

Happy Sunday all.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up, caffienated, brekkied, purtified and waitin’ on ol’ y’all know who to finish purtifyin’ so’s we can head out for churchification. It’s Pentecost Sunday so we’re wearin’ red shirts. By red, I mean RED shirts, as in could see us comin’ a mile away red.

Here’s hopin’ FCD gets that tailor made job.

Boo on the brat Taters.

It’s bright and sunny this mornin’ and supposed to be all day. I foresee pool time this afternoon. YAY!

Morning. I’m off to work.
