The Trick or Treat MMP

Now they’re banging harder and have a louder drill. Damn me.

Now* I* thought the question related to** Penny For The Guy** - where early teen youths would tote a badly prepared mannequin around the neighbourhood, on-or-around bonfire night, knocking on doors and demanding money for cigarettes.

Doesn’t happen anymore. Not round here, anyways.

I think we’ve got 'Beamer’s costume sorted - phew! I still feel horrid, but at least it’s taken care of.

Juliet I’m a vote for let her try a few houses, because it’s a special occasion. If she’s too sick to do even that, you can try letting her dress up and take some pictures. I think it happened to one of my kiddos one year, and the other one shared some of her candy, so the sick one didn’t feel too left out. (I think I set some aside for the kidlet as well.)

theres something going around weve had it for about 2 weeks

Shootings over and now time for work. Be curious to see if anyone much dresses up for it.

I’ve only ever seen kids doing that once. Well, without the buying cigs bit, they were about 10 and carrying a big bag full of sweets, and were attempting (successfully I might add) to haggle with the driver of the bus I was on to spend their remaining change on getting home. I think they’d escaped from a book about the 1950s.

I don’t think there’ll be all that many ToTers out right now anyway, it’s hammering it down.

After sleeping in the last few days, my body got me up at 5am today. Then had to go to my morning dental appointment for scraping, X-Rays, polish. flossing and about 2 minutes with the actual dentist, who poked around for a bit and pronounced me Okey-dokey on the canine front.

Turned in my VCR for recycling at Best Buy (surprised but pleased when I found on-line they will take them in for recycling).

Nappage looms shortly, I think, so I can be alert (for America needs it’s lerts) when the kids come calling.

Midget, there isn’t a library close to where you live, is there? Might not get any rest, but at least it will be quite…and drills are the most annoying power tool, I grant you.

Juliet, I’m with the consensus, let her do a few close neighbors houses, but don’t let her, to the extent possible, mix with other kids.

Eyelids heavy–nappage beckons…

**MetalMouse, **many of Montreal’s libraries have bedbugs, so I avoid them.

I got some sleep, but woke up with a horrible stomachache. I hope it goes away in time for rehearsal.

There’s a hospital across the street from rehearsal place. Maybe I’ll go there if my stomach pain becomes intolerable. Well, it already is intolerable, but I can try to drag myself there.

**FCD **is home - yay!! He and I are going out for Bad Chinese after the dogs are fed. The kids and Roxy are going out with friends. So for the moment, it’s quiet in here.

Gotta remember to keep all the lights out tonight…

I just did something really old fashioned. I put a “Wanted to Buy” ad in the newspaper.

There are two printings of a locally produced cookbook that I miss, from a total of twenty eight printings. For nearly a year and a half I’ve searched for these books, mostly online. I’ve had no luck finding the books, so even though they are old, I figure local people might still have them tucked away somewhere.

Oddly enough, I found a copy of the first printing(1931) in a bookstore in New Mexico. I paid through the nose, but it was worth it, since only 1500 copies were printed. Later printings were bigger.

FCM sounds like us before I found door dash it went like this :

"lets get Chinese "
“no place delivers anymore but THAT place”
Well we have a coupon
Oh ok against my better judgement " \

Funny thing is the place never sucks the same way twice …. and door dash last time didn’t make sure the sweet and sour came with the 3 meat combo my aunt ordered from the good place …… money was refunded but now they don’t deliver anymore and im not paying for their “ghetto” Chinese food when I can get better …….
They were great when they first opened but now the place is on its 6th owner in 20 years everyone thinks since they decided to quit delivery there going out soon ……

Howdy Y’all! We have supped and 'twas good. There’s a good amount of leftover ham, however. Maybe tomorrow we can sup on ham 'n cheese omelets and I’ll save some for sammiches over the weekend. The rest I can cut into chunks and freeze. I can use that for maybe ham 'n N.O.T. soup one day next week. I wonder if June Cleaver ever had a leftover ham dilemma.

The insurance adjustor guy (A child acutally. Twenty-five years old if he’s a day, I’d say) was here for an hour and a half. We walked around so I could show him what I’ve noticed. He pointed out a couple of things I hadn’t noticed. He went on the roof (no damage, yay!), took lots of pictures, and even climbed a ladder to take pictures and take a look at the metal roofs on the storage buildin’s. He even took time at the end to go over all his findin’s with me. Really good service!

Juliet poor Jr. I say go softie and let her do some t or t, but no candy munchin’ until tummy is better.

Midget hope the tummy et al feels better soonest. ICK!

I must compliment you on your marriage; I’ve never read a post of yours that reffered to him in a bad way.

We call the local buffet Bad Chinese because it’s really mediocre food. But it’s cheap and ready, so there’s that.

It was OK - at least I didn’t have to do dishes.

:eek: You’d think they’d have bookworms instead… {{{{MIdget}}}}; hope the tummy settles down, but I concur with stopping at the horsepistol if you don’t get feeling better.

I’ve put the outside lights on and got the candy out, although I don’t expect any T or T callers for another 30 minutes or so. Ate a late lunch so may wait until the flow of little ones is completed before nuking the mac-n-cheese for dinner. Nappage was not a rousing success so an early bedtime is predicted.

Cupcakes, good luck on the cookbook search.

swampy, sounds like your insurance company is pretty responsible. Hopefully you’ll get your claim settled with a minimum of hassle.

The city put a notice on fb that t or t is from 6 until 8. I went out at 6 and was out of candy by 6:30.

Ripple did well at daycare, very excited to see me and very happy to be home.

I agree with letting Juliet Jr go out t or t.

Still trying to get things straightened out with the college. It has something to do with two of his online books. I talked with someone yesterday who said it should be straightened out in 2 days. Then somebody else called me today, because of course one department has no idea what the other department is doing. If it isn’t fixed by Firday, I will pay it and wait to be reimbursed.

I didn’t get much done today, I took a long nap.

Home. Ate leftovers for supper. I stopped on the way home and spent $40  on Halloween candy and have it to the neighbor to hand out. I is tahred.

Tomorrow is the first with all that entails and, as if I have time, I was tapped to do an investigation by the JAG. I am an impartial outsider. I will do it but I don’t have to like it. I actually already did two interviews and watched a videotape of the incident.

Moooommmm I saw those adorable photos of RoxStar with the punkin wigs.

metal mouse, a flatulent English Mastiff would likely render my apartment unhabitable. :stuck_out_tongue: With Nelson, I just limit his consumption of peanuts and apples (yes, he likes those as snacks).

Jarhead, welcome aboard! Your Mumper nickname has been issued and the initiatian fee of chocolate and beer shall be collected later. Meanwhile, enjoy the insanity and side conversations about velvet gowns.

swampy, I’ve found that pound for pound, you get the most mileage from a good, bone in ham.

The quasi fairy princess costume went well today, as did the taco bar. We have enough leftover chips, salsa, pico de gallo and desserts to nosh on tomorrow. I’m still in costume and will go sit on the patio shortly so that the knocks on the door (if any) won’t start frenzied barking. There are stickers, fun erasers and mini cans of play dough to pass out.

I bought a new vacuum cleaner today. How exciting is my life.
