The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

I just wonder if it’s not too late though. There are some areas in which the response rate to the census is not even 50%, like Detroit, Michigan, which is already suffering from a very real population loss as it is, but the collapse in census response would be potentially devastating in terms of allocation of resources to Michigan and the city itself.

But Detroit is just one example. It’s looking like there’s a deliberate attempt to undermine census counts in specific areas. Denying political representation is not just something that gets rectified with a single election; that’s something that stays baked into the system for a decade, if not longer.

Number Of The Beast or Two Minutes To Midnight by Iron Maiden would work, too.

Ticket to Heaven by Dire Straits would be appropriate, but I am not convinced that people would get it.

now there’s nothing left for luxuries
nothing left to pay my heating bill
but the good lord will provide
I know he will
so send what you can
to the man with the diamond ring
they’re tuning in across the land
to hear him sing

How absurd it all seems, without any proof!

I think Stevie Wonder nailed it.

You Haven’t Done Nothing

We are amazed but not amused
By all the things you say that you’ll do
Though much concerned but not involved
With decisions that are made by you

But we are sick and tired of hearing your song
Telling how you are gonna change right from wrong
‘Cause if you really want to hear our views
"you haven’t done nothin’"

Breaking rocks in the hot sun…

From an actual Trump campaign ad:

It isn’t about ideology, its about fandom. The Republican party is their team and is are the good guys, while the Democrats are the opposing team and so the bad guys. This is what they believe and what they desperately want to believe. If confronted with evidence that this isn’t the case, all they will need is the flimsiest of fig leafs to explain it away and they will immediately accept it.

So Trump saying that he was trying to prevent panic is all they need to excuse the comment.

Example:

Republican party: 2+2=5

Reality: But I have two apples here and two apples there, and when I put them together I have 1 … 2 … 3 … 4 apples.

Fox News commentator: But this calculation didn’t account for the fact that apples have stems. If you included the stems in your count you would have had 5 apples.

MAGATS: YOU DIDN’T COUNT THE STEMS! YOU DIDN’T COUNT THE STEMS! FAKE NEWS!

That’s okay, I guarantee that no Trump supporter would know or care about the mistake, and anyone pointing it out is just a out of touch ivory tower arugula eating coastal liberal elite.

OMG hilarious! I almost find it hard to believe, even if The Daily Beast confirms it. I wonder if whoever put it together spelled it that way on purpose, either to please or to subliminally troll him.

Also, despite the fact that any head of state can be nominated for any reason so it means virtually nothing to be nominated, I bet this is the one thing trump hangs on to till the end of his days, no matter what his eventual fate is. Even if he ends up a broken, broke loser constantly fighting prosecution, he’ll still be telling anyone who listens “I almost won the ‘Noble’ Peace Prize. Sure, Obama won it, but that was political. Even though I was constantly fighting the Deep State and the Lamestream media, I came this close!”

Ignoble Prize, maybe.

I rather like the quote in the Wiki article:

The remainder of the Ministry of Information publicity campaign was cancelled in October 1939 following criticism of its cost and impact. Many people claimed not to have seen the posters; while those who did see them regarded them as patronising and divisive. Design historian Susannah Walker regards the campaign as “a resounding failure” and reflective of a misjudgement by upper-class civil servants of the mood of the people.

Of course, all that is too subtle for someone who had to ask what Pearl Harbor was all about.

I said last year someone should make up and present to his nibs a Noble medal and award it to him. He’d never know the difference.

Is it Trump’s fault that all the dictionaries can’t spell?

Speaking of Trump, dictionaries, and definitions, can anyone explain what Trump thought he was saying when he said CoVID was “even more deadly even than your strenuous flu”?

Was he think about people talking of “strains of flu” and confusedly thought this described how tough they were?

Or did he think he was saying something like “more deadly even than your strong [kinds of] flu”?

Or was he thinking of particular micro-organisms like staphylococcus or streptococcus, but couldn’t find the actual name, and “strenuous” was the only thing similar in sound that his brain produced, so that’s what he said (even though they’re bacteria, and influenza is a viral disease).

Or is it all of the above, mixed together in a hazily coherent bundle of ideas and served fresh from the tangle of his mind?

Oh dear. Be careful. Trying to crawl inside trump’s head will not be good for you. The answer to your questions is: no. Or maybe. But probably not.

eschereal altering someone else’s post inside the quote tags, even when done as a joke, is against the board rules. Please avoid this in the future. No warning issued.

Well, that is a pretty good way to visualize “the tangle of [Trump’s] mind”. I’ll try to be careful wading in there.

Maybe he was thinking of seasonal flu, but his mental Rolodex got stuck in the letter “S”?

I’m going to go with “strains of flu”. It seems the most covfefe explanation.

I interpreted it as “virulent”. It has a u, r, e, and t and it’s kinda next door to “strenuous”.
