With any luck, those will become real collector’s items, wink-wink
I’m fairly surprised they made this public. Is there a law that requires releasing positive tests?
This is straight-up North Korea style bullshit.
Apparently they stole the music from The Avengers.
The article does mention that it was an announcement the pastor himself on his Facebook page. AFAIK There are no restrictions (everyone already knows now that you told us) if one comes forward with their own results.
Indeed. HIPAA prevents a medical professional from disclosing an individual’s medical information without permission, but if you are willing to provide it publicly yourself (or authorize your healthcare professional to share it publicly), you may do so.
Sorry, I didn’t phrase that right. I’m surprised the pastor released the info. I figured he’d want to keep it quiet if possible. On the other hand if enough people come forward and don’t end up with serious complications they can pretend it’s nothing.
Here are excepts. There’s more at the actual article.
White House Blocks New Coronavirus Vaccine Guidelines
The F.D.A. proposed stricter guidelines for emergency approval of a coronavirus vaccine, but the White House chief of staff objected to provisions that would push approval past Election Day.
A main sticking point has been the recommendation that volunteers who have participated in vaccine clinical trials be followed for a median of two months after the final dose before any authorization is granted, according to a senior administration official and others familiar with the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. Given where the clinical trials stand, that two-month follow-up period would all but preclude any emergency clearance before Election Day.
As usual, Trump accused the other side of doing what he is actually doing: sacrificing public health for a political move (my bolding):
Speaking to reporters on Sept. 23, Mr. Trump publicly cast doubt on whether the guidance would be approved. “We may or may not approve it,” he said, suggesting that the regulatory action “was a political move more than anything else.”
F.D.A. officials later provided additional justification to the White House, explaining that the two-month follow-up was necessary to identify possible side effects and ensure that a vaccine’s protection against Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, was not short-lived. But they have been unable to break the stalemate.
This is kind of an odd video. The quality is highly compressed, at least for me, but even so, it looks like they have been using a fancy auto-blending tool that lets them cut out fragments and merge the surrounding video/audio together to hide the edits. I am guessing there was a lot more gasping and wheezing than the video portrays.
Damn, that dude is totally stumbling out of Marine 1 and across the lawn.
I’m starting to become religious and believe that there is a real God.
Upper Manhattan’s Riverside (mega-)Church is famously liberal! What the?
Oh, Riverside, California! Gotcha.
Give me a fuckin break. My wife and I watched it on the news in real time. We were hoping he’d have a little stumble on the way from the copter to the WH to spoil his little press opp. Nothing serious that would break a hip, just a little “woah, woah” off-balance event with the arms windmilling before he righted himself-- like he did a couple months ago.
We were wondering why he took all those stairs when he hates exercise-- now I know it’s because he was having his own “Triumph of the Will” style video filmed. Leni would be jealous.
Emma Peel should rise from the dead and karate chop him.
Don’t they usually edit out when the “director” has the camera move to the rear for an ass shot?
The Lincoln Project has a video comment on that.
[Trigger warning: shows shrouded bodies being loaded into trucks and coffins while trump’s voiceover plays.]
That was my take as well: he didn’t look too steady on his feet.
That video was sickening, even without the LP body bag version. trump literally says “don’t be afraid of [Covid]. Don’t let it dominate your life. You’re going to beat it.”
Bolding that last part because that seems to leave no doubt that he’s saying “don’t worry about taking precautions, don’t be afraid to catch the virus, because you will beat it like I did”.
Sure, if you catch the virus, and your in-home medical facility is not adequate, just take your standby helicopter to a state-of-the-art hospital and have the docs give you an exotic cocktail of antivirals and steroids that are not available to the general public, until you feel better. What’s to be afraid of?
And don’t forget: your insurance will cover every penny or else you can just write a check for it, amirite?
I think about those people who couldn’t afford treatment and what about the ones who couldn’t even afford the frickin’ test?
Bad for PR. Best we just forget the whole thing, amirite?
