And as I noted in yet another thread, it isn’t a question of whether he can do it. There is nothing to stop Trump from issuing such a proclamation. The issue is whether it will be honored or contested in the face of future indictments.
I keep wondering what he would pardon himself for. Doesn’t a pardon presume crimes?
Ford’s pardon of Nixon did not specify crimes. But that was never tested.

Individual 1 screamed at the FDA commissioner after Pfizer announced their vaccine, wanting to know why the announcement wasn’t made before the election.
As I posted in the election follow-along thread, what even more stupid about Trump screaming at the FDA commissioner is that Pfizer hasn’t even submitted anything to the FDA yet.
It’s also worth pointing out, as I’m sure others may have done upthread but I haven’t seen them, that Pfizer did not accept any government money to develop their vaccine. They were not a part of Operation Whiz Fuck or whatever the Trump Cabal called it.

Just in case your Trump friends attempt to quibble: Pfizer has a ~$2bn contract to receive Operation Warp Speed cash as a supplier but (as stated) did not received any OWS cash to develop the vaccine. So once the vaccine is ready they’ll get the cash in return for providing 100m doses, but they didn’t get any to help them create it in the first place.

Funny thing is, Pfizer making this announcement two weeks ago could actually have been a big boost for Trump, even though his program had nothing to do with it. (Neither he nor his supporters would have cared about that small detail.) He would have claimed it as a victory of his own doing.

One of Individual 1’s lawyers claims that Biden should prove that he won the election.
That’s exactly why DJT is so mad at them. He’s saying they withheld the announcement deliberately just to be mean to widdle ol’ him.
I guess he thinks the FDA was in cahoots with Pfizer to purposely hold back the initial results. It makes no sense at all. If Pfizer hasn’t applied for FDA approval and isn’t taking OWS money unless and until they provide an approved vaccine, then the FDA has nothing to do with it AFAIK. Trump was probably just afraid to call Pfizer and scream at them.
I wonder if they actually did delay the announcement to avoid becoming an unwilling pawn. After all, it won’t extend the time before the vaccine is available to the masses.
