The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making Part Deux (Part 1)

Which is not fair to her, as I’ve said, given her long career as a seemingly respected doctor and medical scientist.

I’m sitting quite comfortably thanks. Here’s what you said:

That didn’t happen.

I don’t know why people get like this in discussions. If you just said “OK, she wasn’t nodding, but I still think she showed cowardice because < blah >”, we could just carry on and discuss her cowardice. Instead, you’re turning on me for just pointing out your error.

I did further expand on what I meant.

So I’m not digging my heels in. I’m agreeing with you that she didn’t in any way enable or encourage the orange mental patient.

If you want to continue to argue with me about this, you’ll have to explain to me what our disagreement is about.

Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman is retiring from the military due to ‘bullying, intimidation and retaliation’. The White House was apparently going to try to block any attempt to promote him to Colonel. So a patriotic member of the military with an unimpeachable record of service is punished for doing the right thing, while the dangerous idiot in the White House is still allowed to do and say whatever he wants.

This is so disgusting. I know (or at least am optimistic) that someday things will reset, and we’ll look back on these as dark times for our country; the name of trump will be forever synonymous with abject incompetence, horrible cruelty and maybe even treason. But living it right now, it seems like this national nightmare is neverending.

She supped with the devil and her spoon was not nearly long enough. To be honest, I don’t think such a thing exists.

I think we can all agree that everything Trump touches turns to shit.

Full stop.

To be fair, she didn’t make Trump President. She was just faced with the impossible choice of trying to work with Trump, or gambling on what kind of idiot Trump would replace her with. Given the levels of Trump’s pettiness and vindictiveness, there’s not really a third way for people in her position. Even if she were to make statements later walking back Trump’s worst stupidities, all that would accomplish is to get her fired.

Same with Uwe Boll.

Betsy DeVos says that since astronauts risk everything by going up into space, kids should be willing to risk dying by going to school.

Apply head forcefully to desk. Repeat until unconscious.

I’m pretty sure the secret service would stop us if we tried doing that.

For a quick second, that image made me think somebody trolled Trump as Max Headroom.

But not certain.

Betsy DeVos says that since astronauts risk everything by going up into space, kids should be willing to risk dying by going to school.

Although the greater risk is to their parents, grandparents, and community when little asymptomatic Johnny brings it home to dinner.

Yes. Even though astronaut children are at low risk to develop hands covered with eyes, they can still transmit hand eyes to others.

The CDC issued guidelines that schools could use to determine whether or not to re-open with students physically present. This pissed off Trump, who thought they were too strict and stood in the way of his “damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead” reopening plan. So the CDC is making edits.

Remember when our science and technology was the envy of the world? When everyone looked to the CDC as a model?

W.H.O.??

Oh, they still see it as a model, all right.

:face_vomiting:

I read an article recently about the CDC’s role (or lack of it) in the pandemic. It quoted a public health official in a foreign country (can’t recall the details) who – to paraphrase – wondered what the hell is going on here? That it used to be whenever any health department in the world had a puzzling problem, their first call was to Atlanta.
Those days are gone, thanks to Trump.

“Yeah, well, why should we supply health care advice to those deadbeats? Let them suffer their own diseases. It’s not like some disease in Asia is ever going to threaten the good old US of…”
