I thought the same but I did it from Incognito Mode and I also got #9. Which isn’t to say that Incognito Mode isn’t individually tailored, but you’d think Google would be pretty stupid to do something which would undermine the confidence in its own product.
My bad. That was using Safari on my phone. When I use Google it turns up as #8. My results using Incognito Mode are identical in every way to regular mode. I believe that when you’re in Incognito Mode it still knows who you are but it doesn’t save any history from when you are there.
I’m not sure if you expected an answer, but I have a guess.
Here on the SDMB, we are only allowed a very limited of time to edit our posts. This is a fine feature for us and it prevents lots of confusion.
However, based on my experience with other forums, most Discourse boards do not have an edit window - you can go back and edit a post days or even months later.
I’m guessing that it’s simply a matter of the countdown stopping when the edit window closes. Maybe. No idea if I’m right but it makes sense, sort of.
Yeah, it’s kind of weird here. You can only edit a post up until five minutes later but you can delete a post without limit (or the limit is very large). When I first became aware of this soon after the switch, I went back a deleted a years old post of mine to test it.
And in the past I always said when it was time for the hour when Robert Siegel (sounded like seagull) and Audie Cornish hosted as: “Aha, it is time for the Poultry Hour!”
