I think that’s an introductory price. I’m paying $99 a year after the first year. I’m also paying $9.99/month for my local town paper, and I’m glad to do it. @Darren_Garrison can go fuck a bicycle, it costs a lot of money to run a newspaper, and we need the press badly.
Thanks. It does pain me that we have to pay to keep quality media in business, but it the alternative is to lose them, then I can do what I can. I support the local paper, NYT, and The New Yorker. I consider the payments a “donation” except that I actually get value from it.
Nobody expects someone to shell out if it’s not in their budget.
Well, the CDC is actually a federal agency. Under the umbrella of HHS. So, the fact that ShitGibbonia cannot figure out how to put the screws to something under their own control is, well, I guess it should give us a glimmer of hope.
And anyway, there is nothing to prevent healthcare providers from bccing the Gray Lady, WaPo, cnn, worldmeterset al.
As noted by several posters in the Quarantine thread, there is nothing to compel them either. The question is, will they report to CDC in addition to HHS? My speculation is, it might depend on the political leanings of each individual state. Thus, the statistics that CDC collects could become incomplete and fragmented and unreliable.
I’m starting to think the same way. I already pay for the L.A. Times, and a few journals, but if I can afford it, it’s a good cause to support what the Washington Post has been doing.
