You know that whenever Trump says something will happen in two or three weeks that it’s almost always total bullshit. He thinks that, by that time, he can pretend that he never said anything and won’t be responsible–because for his brain that’s a magical time in the future.
Those Lincoln Project guys don’t pull their punches.

Right, well that’s always been his MO. Most of the media are part this dog-and-pony show. They just say that he said something “controversial” and then run after the next distraction, instead of immediately calling “bullshit” and digging deeper into the more corrupt things–(though thankfully some have done that).
I’m not going to search but a few months ago (early covid) he also promised a super duper plan after the election. And going way back pre-2016 election, he promised a brilliant plan to defeat ISIS which turned out to be “no plan”. He, probably for the first time, admitted he didn’t have a plan and would let the actual generals do what they were doing. Exactly what Obama pursued but now that was his idea for “reasons”.
