I would’ve gone batshit crazy by now if I was either Pelosi or Chuck over these past couple days, having to deal with plonks like Meadows, Mnuchin and McConnell, trying to somehow get through to those evil weasels. And not just funds for local states and gov’ts, and the horrific $200 Republican support offer, but nine or ten other issues that have to reach some bipartisan consensus for this covid bill to actually happen. There’s a long way to go. Already seeing signs of strain on Pelosi, who tried to rebuke Judy Woodruff tonight for carrying water for Trump with her line of questioning, whereas, JW pointed out that she was (obviously) playing devil’s advocate.
Just his attempt to attract the Jewish vote.
Yeah. Rabbis back in Philly say that.
When times are tough, you go back to what you know. Trump has been inflating the value of “his” assets for decades.
Portland should now calculate property tax on the building based on that $600 million valuation, and send the bill directly to Trump.
I don’t think that’s stress; that’s just Pelosi being canny. The other day she shot down a CNN anchor for asking whether or not she trusted Mark Meadows. The lady knows how to negotiate; what you saw was just tactics IMO.
Re: $600 million v. $129 million-
“It’s ONLY a few million dollars! Petty cash. It takes a loser to nitpick small change like that.”
ETA: what @Robot_Arm said.
Trump says he’ll likely give convention speech from the White House.
I gather it’s a trial balloon.
Is that even legal?
Also, fuck Discourse removing the quote just because it’s the post above.
I’ve only seen clips, but that Axios interview was an abject disaster. One can only hope now that Democrats know how to capitalize on it. Given their track record, they probably don’t, but perhaps it’s a job for Lincoln Project Republicans.
If you liked the Axios interview, you have to check out this short edited mashup; it’s inspired:
It’s what happens when you try to wax elephants.
“Wax on” is OK, you don’t want to be there for “wax off”.
I just watched the whole thing this morning. What an unbelievable display of bloviating, cluelessness, and bullshit. He’s asked early on if it maybe wasn’t a good idea to have a Tulsa rally with 6,000 maskless people close together during a pandemic. His answer was to say it wasn’t 6,000, it was 12,000, armed BLM members kept a lot of people out or it would have been even more, and the rally got the highest ratings in the history of Fox TV.
No. It’s a blatant violation of the Hatch Act (using government property for political purposes). It would be impeachable if Obama did it, but it’ll barely cause a raised eyebrow, due to its relative insignificance compared to Trump’s other crimes.
Think of all the things that have to happen to get here. He’s reached this advanced age without ever saying the word “Yosemite” out loud. He never made the connection between the Warner Bros cartoon character and the name of the park. He didn’t scan the text of his message with any adult before reading it in front of the cameras.
What a maroon.
Little Nemo is spot on — it is true.
And your question is a good one. One wonders why. Perhaps for posterity — future historians?
Ya know, he never gave a shit from the very start. And now he cares even less about the USA. All he wants to do is get re-elected to stay out of courtrooms.
Oh, and yes, he’s an idiot.
Not at tax time, he doesn’t.
I’m beginning to think that there are subversives on his staff. Whoever wrote the line “the sequoias at Yosemite” HAD to know he couldn’t deliver it. I’m surprised he came as close as he did. This is the man that spelled the name of the terrorist group as “Alcaida” in a written note captured in a photo, like he’d never seen the name in print. They are still pretending that he knows how to read.

If everyone was truly on his team, that line would’ve been “the bears at Yellowstone” or something similar. I think his own staff nailed him.

Individual 1 pronounces Yosemite as, first, “Yo-semites” and then as “Yo-seminites”.
In other news, a Trump staffer was found staring into space and gibbering, with a memo on his desk about the boss’ plan to burnish his foreign policy rep by delivering a statement about the Shiite community in Niger.

If everyone was truly on his team, that line would’ve been “the bears at Yellowstone” or something similar. I think his own staff nailed him.
Dangerous.
Knowing him, he’d go off on a rant about Jellystone and Yogi Berra stealing picnic baskets.
You know, Berra was smarter than the average bear. Some people say Trump is smarter than the average bear too. I don’t know about that but some people say that. But picnic baskets are safe from Trump. Cause he’s smart enough not to steal them. He’s got lots of money and people to buy them for him.
