The “adult” in the room was one of Trump’s worst enablers. In fact, I’d argue that the damage John Kelly has done with his enabling of Trump is worse than Steve Bannon’s. At least we knew from day one who Bannon was, and what ideas he represented. We thought more highly of Kelly, in part because we have been taught to respect career military officials who rise to the rank of general.
