There are almost five million Palestinians living, often under horrid conditions, in the West Bank and Gaza. Whatever you think of the politics, evil and/or blunders which led to this, you can’t deny that Many innocent Palestinians are suffering — suffering from lack of food and medicine not to mention lack of careers, lack of joy, lack of opportunity, lack of hope.
In the olden days I was proud to be an American. We could take Israel’s side, yet still try to alleviate the suffering of those Israel persecuted. As recently as 2017 we gave $550 million in aid to the Palestinians. Their suffering is so desperate much of that wasn’t even spent to provide food or medicine — it was spent to provide water and electricity.
Trump had already suspended further payments from these funds. This was to punish Palestinians for the U.S.'s moving their Embassy to Jerusalem. (Punishing the victims of a crime is de rigueur in modern right-wing thought.)
There was some hope that Palestinians might prostrate themselves before The Trump ('Please rape our women Massa; your hands are the biggest hands in all the galaxies") and the food and water might start trickling in again.
But No. Today we learn that a top-level White House meeting, featuring Peace Czar Kushner, Top Koch-Brothers sidekick Pompeo, and the Orange Man with the Giant Hands himself, has decided to make the suspension of aid permanent. Funds already promised will be sent back to Treasury, presumably to help finance the next tax cut for the rich.

The White House has called Omarosa a disgruntled liar, which fair enough, seems to describe her perfectly. But, this administration is such a clusterfuck that no one bothers to ask the obvious follow up questions where we try to figure out why all of these disgruntled liars were in the White House in the first place.

Kavanaugh is going to be worse than fucking Scalia, if that were even possible. In retrospect, I give the Trump/Republican tandem some credit: they saved their worst nominee for last. Gorsuch might be a corporate fanboy, but he at least comes across as erudite and not quite as much of a political activist. Kavanaugh seems to have Scalia tendencies, reversing himself in much the same manner that Scalia did. Twisting logic and facts so that they fit whatever he decides is “right” right now.
I think they’ll settle for making Muslims mad. They seem to get off on watching people in pain and watching them get inflamed with outrage.

Amy and Marco Becerra, are U.S. citizens. Marco also has Peruvian citizenship, and they moved there a few years ago. Their adopted daughter, Angela, was born there in 2014. Her mother was not capable of supporting her, so she was taken to an orphanage, where the Becerras adopted her. They have legal Peruvian adoption papers.
The Becerras moved back to the United States and brought their daughter with them. Because they had filed for immigration for Angela (legally), she was unable to get a travel visa to come to the United States, so Marco stayed behind in Peru as Amy moved to Colorado. It took 13 months for the United States to get Angela a tourist visa to come to the United States. Her travel visa is about to expire. The United States is refusing to extend her visa, and they are moving to deport her.
A four year old girl, who has no parents, is about to be deported to Peru all by herself, unless her American citizen parents move there with her.
It was about a completely different case that’s got nuthin’ to do with this thread, but the coolest sentence I read last week was (translating from Spanish, it loses a few cussing levels in translation):
