The website of Ben Garrison, insane right-wing cartoonist and terrible person, has been suspended by its host, after posting a cartoon and “10 reasons not to mourn John McCain’s death”. I hate sending traffic to a right-wing site, but there’s a slightly-trimmed version of it all here.
If you haven’t seen Garrison’s artwork before, look it up, but be prepared for an astronomical level of self-delusion.
Garrison is everything wrong with political cartoons in human form. Stupid, unfunny propaganda that relies entirely on labeling every aspect of the metaphor because his readers are too thick to get it otherwise. The art is decent but he doesn’t score points for being better than S. Kelley.
“The White House is examining whether Google searches should be subject to some form of government regulation, Larry Kudlow, President Trump’s top economic adviser, said Tuesday.
“We’re taking a look at it,” Kudlow told reporters outside the White House when questioned about whether Trump believes Google should be regulated.
Kudlow’s comments came after the president posted a pair of early morning tweets accusing Google of rigging its search results and suggesting the tech giant was breaking the law.”
God damn the president is a fucking moron. I knew that already, but fuck me!
Christ on a crutch. Google has the lawyers and the will to defend itself against this kind of nonsense, but I never thought I’d live in a country where they would have to. I thought this story was satire until I went and read Trump’s twitter feed.
My social media feeds include theorizing that Melania’s surgery wasn’t on her kidneys, but some kind of breast enhancement. Seems to be based on the C-Span video of the meeting with Kenyatta.
I’ve never paid any attention to Melania’s boobs, except of course when the reference is to her stepkids. I’m sure eagle-eyed folks here will know though – are her breasts larger than they used to be?
They know they are the real majority. Any evidence to the contrary is fake, made-up bullshit to discourage the true Americans. Voter suppression tactics are legitimate because the liberal/lefties are cheating. When Il Douche announced his popular vote loss was due to five million illegal votes, most of us laughed out loud, we didn’t notice the people nodding in solemn agreement.
Trump wouldn’t know how to Google “Big Tits” if you spotted him all the consonants. He wasn’t on Google ferchrissakes, he was watching Fox “News” again where Lou Dobbs and the esteemed computer algorithm experts, Diamond & Silk, told him all about it.
ICE apparently feels like it’s more important that they deport people than that they allow local authorities to try them for crimes they are charged with. Thus the people are living free in their home countries instead of in jail in the US.
As the Republican party loses its mainstream appeal and goes full on fringe, it will come to the realization that it will require disproportionate power relative to its actual size in order to survive. There’s really only one way it can achieve this: through brute force. The means by which Republicans will use force to control their critics will become ever more extreme.
Yeah, that is about why ensuring that the blind that use readers to see one’s page properly makes your site more relevant in searches. However, I think that many on the extreme right that follows Trump do not give much of a hoot about people with disabilities. It could explain some of the discrepancy.
Sure, but the effort to ignore the reality—that Trump didn’t start out on that moral hight ground, but instead was forced into lowering the flag again, and forced into mentioning McCain in a complimentary way—is another brain-injury for them. (They’re used to that, of course.)
eta: thanks for venturing into those fetid swamps, so that others don’t have to!
Drug dealers use these policies to their advantage as well. Sam Quinones describes this in his book “Dreamland- the Tale of America’s Opiate Epidemic “.
The guys that sell black tar heroin in mid sized major cities ( they have targeted places like Charlotte, Columbus and Salt Lake City) work on a small business customer direct model. And their “customer-facing employees”, the guys that meet the customers in parking lots with heroin - come in from Mexico as salaried workers on 3 to 6 month contracts. When their contract is over they go home and spend their wages.
In the eyes of the workers, this is a risk free deal. While they might be unlucky enough to get busted - the worst thing that happen is they ge deported and go home a few weeks or months early. And there was a seemingly endless supply of these young men, the best law enforcement could hope for was adding expense and aggravation to those drug operations.
When they managed to convince prosecutors to insist on trying and convicting these guys on federal charges and sentencing them to long prison terms, they were able to deter a lot of young men from taking on this work .
This book is a few years old and I don’t know what the current policy is. But the feeds don’t seem to like spending the money on trying and imprisoning these guys, cheaper just to send them home.
