The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

No. If they thought they could get rid of Trump without repercussions, they would have done it already. Pence would have given them the policies and justices they want without the accompanying embarrassment.

Also don’t forget the shitheads who bought into the rights bullshit and had their heads too far up their asses to see the direction of the winds, that Hillary was a perfectly good candidate and by far the best of those running.

Oh, like Bernie Sanders, who couldn’t even win primaries against the “worst” candidate ever.

You know at some point, individual voters need to take responsibility for being gullible enough to eat whatever lead chip-laden spaghetti republicans threw on the wall.

Absolutely not, no. In fact, I don’t think Kavanaugh is any part of the reason they’re behind Trump.

Why would they need Trump for Kavanaugh at all? Mike Pence wasn’t going to nominate a liberal. Most of them are behind Trump because the Republican base loves him and threatens to primary out any Republican who isn’t a Trumpist. (A few, like Paul or Rohrabacher, are in it because they’re working for Russia and have to keep Trump in office to avoid prison/embarrassing kompromat leaks.)

Well, she DID stomp him into the goo, by 3 million votes. But he was wearing Electoral College floaties.

I don’t know. Trump creates quite a bit of cover. The media spends so much time talking about his tweets and gaffs that they spend very little time on what actual polices are coming out of this administration.

I don’t know if Pence could get away with nominating such a far right ideologue.

Fox wouldn’t change a thing, so the Republican base would still be happy. The people who follow the regular media already are aware of most of the policies. I can’t think of anything that isn’t Trump specific that people would change their minds about with more coverage. All that matters to too many people is which team suggested it.

And who would stop anyone Pence nominated? Not the Republican controlled Senate.

Most people get their news from the local news at 11, or from the front page of their newspaper, still. Those of engaged on social media think that that is where everyone gets their news, but that’s not the case.

And yes, the trump show is stealing the spotlight, and pushing the actual procedure and policy to below the fold, at the least.

Who stopped the Harriet Meirs? Kavanaugh has an even higher unfavorablility rating than she did. Trump has a very loyal base to scare the senators to confirming his picks, Pence, maybe not so much.

You’re probably right. The Republicans could have picked a “wrong within normal parameters” candidate in the primaries, but they didn’t. Trump vs. Pence feels like Prometheus being allowed to wear pants or not: Either way you’re getting your liver eaten, but one way isn’t quite as embarrassing.

Trump has lots of photos of Mueller and Comey sitting in a tree, k-i-s-s-i-n-g.

It may mean nothing in the long run but Trumps aggregate approval rating has dropped below 40% for the first time in a while and may be on a harsh downward trend.

Or it could be one poor showing from Rasmussen dragging things down.

(bolding mine)

I didn’t think that was even possible.

It’s probably just hell week. Unless it’s followed up with new crimes, it probably will correct pretty quickly.

The NY Times has just run an op-ed from an anonymous senior White House official, confirming that members of the Administration are working to thwart Trump’s more outrageous impulses.

Shit is getting weird.

An anonymous op-ed. Wow. That can’t have happened too many times before.

What are the chances he’ll even be aware of it?

LBJ: “If I’ve lost Cronkite, I’ve lost middle America.”

DJT: “If I’ve lost Rasmussen, I’ve lost the deplorables.”

I find it ironic that it turns out that the “Deep State” government employees who are sabotaging Trump’s “agenda” are his own.

Are Mueller and Comey tongue kissing? Because that would be a tad suspicious.

He’ll just claim the failing NYT is making it up, fake news!

It is ironic. Though I doubt they are really trying to sabotage his agenda—they’re probably dyed-in-the-wool conservatives, after all. Supposedly they’re trying to keep him from blowing up the world (a goal on which most conservatives and progressives can agree). They may not be trying to keep him from sticking it to immigrants and people of color and LGBT people and women and so on…they probably are on board with that stuff.

Yes, he will. But it’s real 25th Amendment stuff. Eyes will be turning to the Cabinet, hoping they will step up to their responsibilities…and realizing that they are too busy grifting and killing endangered species and otherwise trying to tear down the USA that existed pre-Trump.
