The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

“He was quite the Pearl Jam fan who would happily lend, but tariffs hit him too hard. SAD!”

“But he was better off than that Theban guy who messed with his nephew/brother-in-law—that guy was LOW. Many people are saying it!”
[admittedly a bit of a stretch]

Could be Trump’s second name.

Calling fascists animals is the opposite of fascism.

See, that’s why I fear mankind. Everybody everywhere has the right to go nuts about Trump, his administration is a colossal threat to democracy everywhere in the world, but adapting the tactics of dehumanizing the enemy the fascists so much have favored everywhere and everytime? That’s falling for them.

So you say that 60 millions of your fellow Americans are animals? What should the rest of America do with them? Keep them in zoos? Re-educate them?

I believe I saw this article posted here on the Dope, maybe even this thread:

This Political Theorist Predicted the Rise of Trumpism. His Name Was Hunter S. Thompson.

In Hell’s Angels, the gonzo journalist wrote about left-behind people motivated only by “an ethic of total retaliation.” Sound familiar?

Soylent Trump
Tongue FIRMLY in cheek

Well, bon appetit then!

Strip them of the right to vote for life, perhaps with an appeals process if they can prove they’ve reeducated themselves to the standard expected of a citizen of a functioning democracy.

In a way, yes.

People who have anti-human ideas need to be dominated, enslaved, and reeducated until they can be somehow rehabilitated. But fear not, for I am gracious and benevolent enough to know that, ultimately, humans, no matter how depraved and warped their thinking might be, are capable of self-reform - with some supervision and guidance of course.

The Germans are different today because they were crushed, dominated, and forced to understand and accept how vile they had behaved before the end of WWII. The Confederates of the American South, by contrast, were allowed to live the lie of a “lost cause” and we’ve been living with that lie’s legacy ever since. And the thing is, you can’t just limit the rehabilitation to the so-called “leadership”; it’s the citizens who empower them. The citizens cheer them on. They’re not casual bystanders; they’re participants in fascism. They’re ignorant, but at the same time, they know what they’re voting for. They just don’t believe that they’ll have to suffer consequences for their wicked beliefs or votes.

Yes, basically this.

The Republicans of today are supporting ideas that are lethal to American democracy and the existence of the American state. We can no longer delude ourselves into believing that their continued unfettered involvement in our society and politics is somehow a part of the normal fabric that can be auto-corrected in the next election cycle.

So to fight the Nazis we should become Nazis?

Sigh…I once wrote a long piece debunking the myth of simple de-nazification and re-education of the Germans after the war I’ll just link to here. And by the way, have you heard of theAfD? See how magically beautiful this turned out here?

I wasn’t saying it was magical; I’m fully aware that it probably took a generation after WWII’s end to be de-Nazified and that there have always been and always will be extremists. But there are differences between Germany and the American South, and even Japan.

#reeducation

Nope, just become more powerful than they are and use the power to dominate them and shape their attitudes and behavior.

Yep, fascism in a nutshell.

Now you’re just trolling - either that or you’re just as stupid as Clothahump and Starving Artist.

Yes.

The good news is, republicans are going to slowly kill their own base (literally) by enacting their policies. No need to 'round ‘em up’

The Dems will get it back of course, and the trump morons will riot. Let 'em. That’s when you can lock them up. Gonna be expensive, but then they will lose their voting ability, and it’s easier to feed them.

We’re talking about preserving democracy here, not enacting fascism. Republicans are not good Americans with respectable differences of opinion. Republicans want the majority of the population to be literal slaves to the whims of the ultra-rich. Excluding them from.the democratic process is no more fascist than refusing to give al-Qaeda seats in the Electoral College.
