He has such good hearing that he could hear their mouths crinkle, and his bigly brain could correctly interpret the sound as smiling.
Wing man, wing man, yeah that’s me!
Wing man, wing ma, you can I get a g?
Wing man, wing man
Clock as much as much as you can,
Fuck this shit, who am I? The wing man!
You Mr Rapeman, you think you’re slick,
Put somethin’ in her mouth and it was your dick,
But if she happens to cry because of your plug,
I’m puttin’ in yo culo a '38 slug!
ETA: obviously a parody of the Dope Man song (1988). No harm, no foul meant.
He has the most incredible, the most fabulous sense of hearing that any President has ever had in the history of the country. He can hear the color green. He can hear the colors red, white, and blue. He can hear the words that F. Scott Key meant to write when he observed the Defence of Fort M’Henry, back in 1814, which is why EVERYBODY should sing the National Anthem the way he sings it.
And, of course, he can hear smiles. The fake news is always censoring out the parts of his press conferences where he pleads with the press to stop smiling so loud, because “the noise is so deafening that [he] can hardly hear [himself] think.”
Come to think of it, that would explain a lot…
You are assuming there would be a legitimate investigation. We have one of those and he’s fighting tooth and nail to stop it. If he wants an “investigation” into Chinese hacking, he’ll get one from Nunes and all his buddies in the House. And they will “find” all kinds of “evidence”. Maybe enough to call in to question all the Democrat wins in the midterms. Nothing that has happened in the last two years shows me that they would not do that.
“They weren’t laughing at me, they were laughing with me. We were having a good time, they had a good time with me.”
I think it’s hilarious that he uses this excuse to whitewash a negative experience and turning it into a successful interaction. Not far from the “oh c’mon, she enjoyed it” defense used by thousands of sexual predators throughout history.
I’m going to say it: I think the UN clip makes Trump look kinda good.
Don’t misunderstand me: I think he’s both an idiot and a despicable person, as I’ve said in this thread and others many times. And it was of course not deliberately to get a laugh.
But he handled it fairly well (at the time anyway, not since), and appeared slightly charming for a moment.
Worse; for me it’s the high point of his speech, the actual content was, as expected, abhorrent.
Except it’s not hilarious.
I would like to commend ThelmaLou for the most accurate thread title. I keep hearing about this Kavman who has been put forth to sit on the Supreme Court, and all the multiplying allegations and think, yeah, that is the definition of a clusterfuck.
Sadly, it’s turning out to be worse than I thought it would be. It’s a labyrinthine, multidimensional clusterfuck.
I swear I could’ve gotten a more intelligible speech if I were to put each of the 145 (is that the right number, or even in the ballpark?) words trump knows on a card, and shuffle the cards before picking the next word to write in the “speech”.

I swear the next step is, “WHERE ARE THE KEYS TO THE STRAWBERRY LOCKER??”
You’re overlooking something rather imporant. Queeg didn’t chicken out of military service.

He is definitely losing it mentally. Meltdown. I think the laughter at the UN pushed him over the edge.
Let’s hope (pray, do a dance, or whatever it is that you’ve found beneficial in bringing needed change) 'tis so.

AHEM. (My emphasis)
Can I call 'em, or what?
The article I linked to throws into stark relief thump’s deteriorating mental state as displayed in his press conference. Not surprising, but to see it all summarized like that makes you weep for this country. Again.
Now you know why I often append Cry, the Beloved Country when I talk about this complete buffoon and his antics.

Trump said he heard smiles? How does that work?
My best guess is that the paint on his face cracks loudly when he changes expression.

Sadly, it’s turning out to be worse than I thought it would be. It’s a labyrinthine, multidimensional clusterfuck.
trump thought it’s 4-D Chess. It’s, as you say, a 4-D clusterfuck.

I was watching clips of him last night on Colbert. He appeared ghastly. I understand he was a bit late for his “performance” but the makeup person screwed up (more than usual). The orange face paint was on but it wasn’t blended into his eye area where he must have been wearing goggles. It was orange then white sections around the eyes. Never seen it that bad before.
The inverted raccoon look has been remarked on previously. Colbert even did a tutorial on how to achieve it.

Sadly, it’s turning out to be worse than I thought it would be…
“Observing Trumpism since 2016. It’s becoming worse than we thought.”
He called the Kurdish reporter “Mr. Kurd”
LOL
Yeah, we’re on the path to a place where democracy doesn’t function and where the law is weaponized to go after political enemies.
The frightening part is, I don’t think Trump is the worst of what’s yet to come. He’s the battering ram that’s tearing apart the front gates; the Christian warriors are the ones who are salivating at the chance to impose their will on the majority, and they don’t particularly care how it’s done, either.
But the way that Kavanaugh’s accusers are being treated gives us a glimpse. A white Christian patriarchy that debases the roles of females, minorities, and the vulnerable among us in society.

That is not a pleasant thought.
I have it third hand from an Iranian that the folks who support the present government in Iran are “the great unwashed”; uneducated, religiously motivated people.

I’m guessing that his train of “thought” was something like:
China’s response in the trade war has been interpreted by some as causing the most pain in areas of the country that are most pro-Trump
Therefore, China is targeting Trump personally
Therefore, China is meddling in the mid-terms. QED.And I think he talks about Elton John at his rallies a lot. He’s his go-to celebrity, when he wants to talk about big crowds.
No, China is “meddling in the mid-terms” by taking out adds (a whole supplement actually) targeting an Iowa audience with “information” about the impact of tariffs. Citing ad in Des Moines Register, Trump accuses China of meddling in U.S. elections
The man is nuts, but he turned an actual feather into five hens, not a brown leaf he mistook for a feather.

Yeah, we’re on the path to a place where democracy doesn’t function and where the law is weaponized to go after political enemies.

And with his extremely limited vision/attention span, thump is not even fully aware of the scope of this scenario. He is only thinking of himself (as usual) and his <gag> legacy. He is a tool being used by others.
But the way that Kavanaugh’s accusers are being treated gives us a glimpse. A white Christian patriarchy that debases the roles of females, minorities, and the vulnerable among us in society.
This is an excellent article in The Atlantic online that sums it up well.
The Fear Driving Conservative Support for Kavanaugh
Republicans worry that liberals are rewriting America’s moral code.…The answer to this puzzle is Trumpism. Trumpism, at its core, is a rebellion against changes in American society that undermine traditional hierarchies. It’s based on the belief that these changes, rather than promoting fairness for historically oppressed groups, actually promote “political correctness”: the oppression of white, native-born Christian men.
…
That’s it in a nutshell.
If you’re already inclined to believe that America increasingly victimizes men simply for acting like men, the accusations against Kavanaugh confirm your fears. First, because if these charges can sink Kavanaugh, they can sink lots of other men, too. “Is there any man in this room that wouldn’t be subjected to such an allegation?” asked Republican Representative Steve King of Iowa earlier this week. The #MeToo movement has established just how pervasive sexual harassment and assault are, and conservatives suspect that Democrats and the media will weaponize such allegations to destroy as many prominent Republicans as possible. Which means that if the GOP can’t hold the line on Kavanaugh, it faces an endless series of Kavanaugh-style scandals. As the conservative pundit Erick Erickson tweeted on Wednesday, “If they cannot confirm Kavanaugh, they cannot confirm anyone. This is the beginning of a new age of judicial character assassination and it only gets worse from here.”
Even more alarming for many conservatives is that, until recently, Kavanaugh’s alleged offenses would have carried few consequences. Liberals have moved the goalposts. It’s a bit like the complaint that conservatives are now called bigots for opposing gay marriage—for retaining a view that was mainstream and bipartisan not long ago. Conservatives are acutely aware that liberals wield more influence than they do over America’s shifting norms of cultural acceptability. Which means, again, that Kavanaugh might be just the beginning. Who knows—conservatives worry—what previously tolerated behavior liberals might try to destroy Republicans for practicing next?
…
The whole article is definitely worth a read.
The angry deplorables who make up thump’s base represent the unwashed <SNAP!>, uneducated id (that’s id* not i.d.) of the men in suits with degrees who populate Congress and state houses. The crowds at thump rallies are screaming and waving signs with the messages that the white guys in power are saying to each other privately in emails and memos.
*Id, in Freudian psychoanalytic theory, one of the three agencies of the human personality, along with the ego and superego. The oldest of these psychic realms in development, it contains the psychic content related to the primitive instincts of the body, notably sex and aggression, as well as all psychic material that is inherited and present at birth. The id (Latin for “it”) is oblivious of the external world and unaware of the passage of time. Devoid of organization, knowing neither logic nor reason, it has the ability to harbour acutely conflicting or mutually contradictory impulses side by side. It functions entirely according to the pleasure-pain principle, its impulses either seeking immediate fulfillment or settling for a compromise fulfillment.
Sound like anybody we know??

People need to remember that Trump isn’t some aberration. He’s part of the same party that gave us George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Dan Quayle, Richard Nixon, Spiro Agnew, and Sarah Palin.

The GOP didn’t make him though. He was the same Trump before he took up politics. He’s an aberration given further Republican refinement, like a Roman Emperor turning Christian.
