Well, it turns out that there’s an innocent explanation. You see, he didn’t really intend to buy the painting, he was just wanted to get the bidding going. But then . . . no one else bid. Ang the fact it was displayed in the hotel was a misunderstanding.
Unanswered of course is why he paid for it out of charity funds, rather than Trump Organization money.
I wonder how shocked he was to find out that no one wanted to spend more than $10k for a portrait of him, even at a charity auction. I mean, I’ve been to events where they’ve had silent auctions for charity. They usually give a somewhat inflated value of the item up for bid and then get even more than that because, you know, it’s for charity.
