I’ve heard speculation that he will use tomorrow’s speech to declare a “National Emergency” with respect to the southern border. What legal stuff does such a declaration provide to the bastard?
Maybe his 12 year old great granddaughter types his tweets for him. “R u sure this 1 is ok w/ u ggpaw?”
You would think he would be embarrassed enough to retire (oh, wait, he’s a Republican). I remember some hearing where he didn’t speak until an aide whispered in his ear and then he said something like “I have nothing to say.” Can’t even come up with that by yourself, Chuck?
And as he’s done so SO many times in the past, he will provide no justification whatsoever for such a declaration. He really does think he just has to speak and his word is law, doesn’t he?
I would imagine this will allow him to use “the military version of imminent domain”, thus allowing him to achieve the long-held conservative dream of using military force to seize private property for public projects.
And he’ll blame Pelosi, Schumer, and every other Democrat for this (and Obama and Hillary because they left this mess for him to fix). Also, 100% of federal workers support him and the shutdown and not getting paid. He’ll say how the American people all what this, except the unpatriotic Democrats who don’t support him and want open borders and crime and drugs and human trafficking–but they don’t count because they’re not True Americans.
He might even mention how bigly he won over Hillary in the election, because it was all those illegals who crossed the border that cost him the popular vote. I wonder how much of that grudge is driving this in his dementia-onset-affected brain?
That would be the opposite of a National Emergency. Except we get Pence.
That’s why he’s in love with executive orders. He really does believe that government works the way it did for the Pharaoh in The Ten Commandments (“So shall it be written; so shall it be done.”)
So what do you think the odds are that Trump declares a National Emergency and closes the border tonight, saying he won’t reopen until he gets his money for the wall?
I know that won’t fly legally, but will throw a new wrench into the works for a few days while the adults try to sort out his mess.
