The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

And that someone would “leak his speech to the media” as it was being broadcast live on CSpan.

Who thought the media would watch something as obscure as C-Span?

He has a hate on for turbines because Scotland plans to (or already has ?) build a big off shore wind farm in the bay across from his fucking golf course and is afraid it’ll be an eyesore. Also he’s a idiot who thinks people are idiots and doesn’t respect anybody.

Poor New Mexico, to go from “but you’re not in the US” to “what place?”

But it’s even dumber than that !

Like, with Nixon you could actually sorta rationalize the secret part of the Secret Plan - after all, if he really had had a plan, then announcing said plan months before being able to implement it would have been counter-productive because it would have given Uncle Ho ample time to prepare for the upcoming plan.
There’s no such justification here whatsoever, in fact it’s the opposite. If the Secret Healthcare Plan is so great and cheap and magic, then surely it would be a great idea to reveal and discuss it before the elections so that the People can secure a strong GOP House to implement it without needing to compromise or accept riders and whatnot. What’d be the downside, Democrats being able to prepare talking points before the debates ? Oh noes.

No, it’s an obvious, transparent, pathologically stupid con-job that only a demented fanatic could (and will) possibly fall for. They don’t have a plan, or what plan they have is “hahaha fooled ya more money for us fuck y’all” because that’s been the plan for as long as I’ve been alive. They simply don’t want to say so (or publish a plan that would factually promise just that) because then their opponents could, y’know, use it. To gain votes. And oust Republicans from their seats. Like they just did. Because the ACA is extremely popular even among old white folks who still stubbornly refuse to hurry up and die already.

I mean Christ the entire POINT of political campaigns is to discuss what you’re going to do when you’re elected, so that electors can make an informed vote and are motivated to come out and vote for you ! Why don’t Democrats and journalists rub his stupid face in his stupid fucking lies all the time goddamned FUCK ! This is making me angry for real, and I’m not even American !

I feel your pain.

This x infinity.

Sadly, not everyone. Most, yes, but there are pockets in Queens and also most of Staten Island where the residents are proud Trumplicans, buying his schtick hook, line and sinker. I stopped frequenting at least 3 small businesses which displayed their support openly and proudly.

This isn’t a conservative vs. liberal thing. These businesses being run by a conservative wasn’t ever a problem. Supporting an obviously lying racist fascist is the problem.

Losing track of the gish gallop* of shite going on, so this could have already been mentioned:
Senate Democrats blocked a Republican resolution Tuesday to reduce debate time for most presidential nominees..

Turtle McTurtleface, though, says it will get nuclear optioned through majority vote. Trying to fast-track obviously dubious nominees by preventing adequate vetting (down from a 30-hr debate to a 2-hr one) I find almost as concerning as the prospect of RBG kicking it before 2020. (Or 2024, I suppose, if President WHSC** is still in office.) (in which case RBG would be around 91 by then.)

*Yeah yeah I realise g.g. pertains more to a dumb argument than a series of shitty events - sue me, then. Consider the definition, then, officially expanded. You’re welcome.
**White House Stool Chart

Thanks for the info on the wind farm thing. Holy shit. :frowning: He **does **excel at revealing his own stupidity. And he’s consistent about it, too. Never fails. You can count on Don to never miss an opportunity to lie, be ill-informed, and/or show himself to be a complete doofus. You go, Mr. Prez! (And soon, please.) :dubious:

Democrats are requesting extensive documentation from Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, the person in charge of the Inauguration fete.

Lot of story there. Looks like Javanka may be entangled in this mess.

I don’t like Trump one bit, but this is just wrong. Trump has done so many things that conservatives wanted that he’s even pulled a bunch of never-Trumpers to his side, and currently has over a 90% approval rating with Republicans.

He campaigned on appointing conservative judges, and has delivered in a big way. Not just on the Supreme Court, but in lower courts around the country. Republicans are generally extremely happy with his picks.

He campaigned on tax cuts and deregulation, and delivered on both.

He campaigned on fixing education, and Betsy DeVos has been changing all kinds of things - the latest being the reform of title IX.

He campaigned on making the economy stronger and creating jobs, and both of those things happened. Economic growth went up, and unemployment went down.

He campaigned on the wall, and just survived a congressional veto over it. He’s going to the mat to keep that promise.

He campaigned on protectionism, and delivered.

He campaigned on making NATO countries pay their mandated amounts and on sticking it to the UN. He HAS been pushing NATO, and he appointed Nikki Haley as ambassador to the U.N., who proceeded to take a hard line stance and was widely supported by Republicans.

I could go on. You don’t have to like those things, and I sure as hell don’t like some of them, but there is no doubt that he has delivered on many of his promises, and attempted to deliver on more. His court picks alone have moved the judiciary to the right, and that effect will last for a generation.

I would guess that the percentage of campaign promises he has kept is higher than average for Presidents in their first term.

He’s still an asshole, though.

Fixing it, huh? Right.
Anyway, speaking of DeVos, here’s Randy Rainbow!

In other news, the House seeks six years of Trump’s tax returns from the IRS. (Reuters)

Heeeeeee!!! This should nut him up.

I guess we’ll see if ol’ Mnuchin is willing to obstruct justice on behalf of his lord and master.

Because they, and we, have learned it just doesn’t work. As long as Shit Gibbon is saying what his little fascists want to hear, he can, will, and does lie hourly and they simply don’t give a fuck. But they are hung up on the far, far, far fewer instances when the opposition does it. So now, many non-Fox news outlets simply state that Shit Gibbon said yet another falsehood and move on. Those with more than 2 working brain cells and a moral core will know, and his backers won’t care.

That’s awsome and about time, but is it one of those things that will end up at the Supreme court before it’s resolved?

Maybe, but I believe it could be a huge risk to Mnuchin personally if he tries.

The House was very careful in how they utilized the rule that entitles them to seek this information. It is not subject to Senate approval and a claim of executive privilege should be easy to swat away (he wasn’t the “executive” when his tax returns were prepared). Congress has a legitimate oversight responsibility. So I can’t imagine what legal theory Mnuchin could use to block Congress’s demand. If no good basis to withhold, he may find himself subject to an obstruction charge of his own.

Or, it doesn’t work because opposing him would mean siding with people who think Republicans are ‘little fascists’.

Democrats had a great chance to pick up support from the people who don’t like Trump but vote Republican. All they had to do was find a moderate candidate, have a welcoming attitude, and separate their attacks on Trump from attacks on anyone on the right.

Instead, the Democrats are moving hard to the left, and amping up the rhetoric against Republicans and Conservatives. Thereby blowing the best chance they’ve had to expand their coalition in decades.

A year ago I thought there was no way in hell Trump could possibly be re-elected. Now, I’m trying to come up with a reason why he won’t, and failing. Bernie Sanders against Trump? Trump wins in a landslide. A socialist who supports the Green New Deal against Trump? Trump wins in a landslide. There are a couple of moderate who might be able to give Trump a run for his money, but I don’t think any of them will survive a primary process in a party full of activists who want a hard left President.

Well, the last moderate candidate we tried was Hillary Clinton, and we all know how that turned out.
