Stealing.
At least Trump got who we were fighting correct. Would it have been all that shocking if, when he got to WWII, he said: “When the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor”? (Props to Animal House)
Yeah, I scratched my head over that one too. I suspect the speechwriter actually wrote “the Continental Congress created a unified army […] and named the great George Washington commander-in-chief.” Not that they named the army after George Washington.
What’s his record for most wrong in the fewest words? Not counting lies.
Bluto is the president now…
He is just missing the drinking.
I suspect Trump substitutes snorting Aderall.
Well, we’ll be ok as long as we remember our great history. :smack:
Loser Donald, of course, can’t conceive of being in charge of something and not naming it after yourself.
Well, he already leveled that criticism towards George Washington about Mount Vernon, so almost certainly true.
Which reminds me of this story:
[Trump’s ‘truly bizarre’ visit to Mt. Vernon
The 45th president — no student of history — marveled at the first president’s failure to name his historic compound after himself.](https://www.politico.com/story/2019/04/10/donald-trump-mount-vernon-george-washington-1264073)
Even with speechwriters, Trump is still an idiot about this country’s history (among many, many other topics). And, in contrast with the Macrons’ knowledge of the US, what would Trump know of French history?
That they never finished putting the outside panels on the Eiffel Tower? Lazy Frenchmen! Trump could have finished the Tower in a month and gotten England to pay for it!
EDIT: Ninja’ed!
Don’t you mean when he said, “When the Germans, you know, like my father, a great patriot, bombed Pearl Harbor…”?
I wonder if he thinks the rockets’ red glare was the OG Space Force…
Senator Blutarsky would be infinitely preferable to Trump.
My standard for him lying has ironically gone up in the past 3 years because he’s too stupid to know when some things are lies, which has to be balanced against his disdain for the truth.
If this quote from the campaign didn’t have a lot of padding it would be pretty rich in compact wrongness:
“When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best. They’re not sending you. They’re not sending you. They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. [Their] rapists.”
Mexico isn’t sending them; they aren’t even mostly Mexicans and so aren’t “theirs”, and they’re not bringing drugs, crime, or rape to a greater extent per capita. It’s ironic that among all this fertile soil of wrongness, many people interpreted the last “they’re” in the least charitable way; to me, it was obviously a shortening of the phrase “They’re bringing their rapists”.
Now, who knows how much of the above he knows is false and how much are lies is up for debate, but he might think that Guatemala is a “Mexican country” which would make part of it wrong rather than a lie ![]()
“Rammed the ramparts”?!??
What else are you supposed to do with the damned things? Man them?
At least he didn’t say “Rammed the manparts!”

Good one!
Poor Donald. His view from the Lincoln Memorial during the speech must have been a bigly reminder of how he can never measure up to George Washington in more ways than one.
So #RevolutionaryWarAirportStories is now a thing…
