So what should we do? Kill them first in a preemptive strike? Curl up in a little ball and wait to die? I’m still not clear what it is you are advocating.
I don’t think he’s advocating anything so much as he’s asking open questions. And they’re sort of valid (or conceivable) too : to me, it’s likely Trump will lose the next election - he might even lose his primary. But it also seems likely to me he’ll make a huge narcissistic psycho stink about it ; AND it seems likely he’ll find some among his echo chamber to physically, gun-havingically try to enforce his staying in the white house forever, on whatever grounds you could care to name.
At this point, what ? What do YOU advocate ?
(FTR : I advocate guillotines, but then I’m French, it’s traditional)
I don’t think for one instant that Trump will manage to remain in office after he’s been elected out.
The more interesting part will be what he tries to do to avoid that happening - suspending elections? Screaming election fraud? But if the chips end up falling such that his term is recognized as being done and he decides to sit down, stick his lip out, and refuse to move, I’m absolutely certain he will be properly evicted without difficulty or fuss.
And any idiots who attempt to storm the white house with rifles will simply die.
- Trump and his entire family has made their way in the world by coning and lying.
- Trump watches a lot of TV.
- I suspect that Trump, unhinged as he is, believes some if not all of the lies that he tells. He inserts himself into situations that he sees on TV. Trump has to make such a narrative, believable or not, that HE believes. It’s the only way to keep it going. To keep the Mark on the hook. It’s his entire ‘business model’. SOP. He has to believe it to make a successful con. He isn’t that good of an actor.
- Trump has a complete and total inability to question himself or his decisions. So, the ideas or situations that he inserts himself into on TV must be true (think about his recent claims about being ‘there’ at 9/11).
- Since Trump can’t question himself, he will believe that he has done everything he said he would (wall etc.).
- When he is voted out, he will say he has done every thing he promised, and has been the best President ever.
^ That’s one possibility. In short. A conman that has conned himself. It’s what he does.
Or perhaps…
Somewhere in his shrinking brain, he understands that he may be in a shit load of trouble if he does not get re-elected (NYSD etc. etc. etc.). He has bribed and threatened his way out of trouble all of his life. That is his SOP. He knows nothing else. He will whine and temper tantrum like the 5 year old that he is. He will try, somehow, to remain in the Oval Office. That ain’t gonna work.
Excellent point.
And of course the Chinese have been keeping close tabs on Trump all along:
President Donald Trump, please put down your personal iPhone
As unstable as Trump is, they’re unlikely to be able to glean as much information from any other President—so they may well favor keeping him in place.
As will the Russians.
Trump has appointed a DNI that will ignore attempts by foreign country’s to fuck with us in any way they please. A man that would like to oppress those that try to control it. Mitch is doing it as well.
If a football team had a moron for a coach, of course the opposition will try to keep that moron in place.
A moron that kisses their ass, and kicks good players off of their own team. That’s Trump.
And takes bribes to lose games. And sells his team’s playbook to any who’ll pay.
And spends most of his time attacking his own team’s players and supporters.
And spends the rest of his time bragging about how he’s the Best Coach of All Time, and whining that he hasn’t been awarded the Vince Lombardi Trophy even though he’s never coached a Super Bowl team.
(Assuming American football in all this, of course.)
You forgot the Nobel Peace Prize that he wants to ‘take’ from Obama.
I really don’t understand how ANYONE can be on the fence about Trump.
You’re either a racist idiot that supports a criminal, or you’re not.
Wealthy people who want to keep their tax breaks, and don’t give a damn about the little people.
Supreme Court judges. That’s all that matters to some people.
Do conservative judges really promote what the GOP base wants? Because it seems the GOP has thrown their ideology right out the window and are no longer conservatives. Sure, they’ll talk a good game about the evils of the Federal Government if it helps Putin keep interfering in elections to keep them in power, but Get In Bed With Russia seems like the apex of not-conservative-anymore ideology.
Maybe they suppress abortion. Is that by itself worth it? Because I don’t see what else they get out of Trumpism, other than sabotaging their own party with idiocy for the fleeting thrill of feeling like they are sticking it to the libs.
I mean, have you watched Fox lately? Ffs, their caricature of liberals doesn’t describe any large segment of the country either. The conservative movement is intellectually bankrupt except for the tax cuts for the wealthy. Do all these Trump nutbars really believe people qualified for the bench are going to promote their blithering ideology?
We are talking about Republican Amygdaladytes here. Their behavior patterns are almost purely reactive. To suggest that they even understand the concept of side- and long-term-effects is a wholly untenable reach.
Lots of Republican voters I know, especially the farmers, vote their way for exactly one reason. “Democrats are going to raise your taxes.”
Well, as the trade wars grind on and global markets are closed to our farmers’ products, there will soon be a lot less farmers left to believe that!
Yeah, but Trump has a 'plan" for that. He bails them out using other people’s money.
But it isn’t socialism because farmers are mostly white?
Well, wait till the trillion dollars deficits catch up with us and those subsidies have to be cut, along with truly socialist problems like SS and Medicare. Those darn Democrats are working on it as we sit here!
Yeah, I’m not saying that any of it makes any sense. And this doesn’t even mention those who vote Republican solely for: “Abortion is murder.” It doesn’t matter what else voting for Republicans results in, because “abortion is murder”.
See bolded above. This is where you went wrong. Trump is putting up people for the bench who are absolutely not qualified and they are being approved.
“In short, the Trump administration and its allies in the Senate are working at a breakneck pace to turn the federal courts into a hyper-conservative body that will implement a partisan political agenda from the bench.”
This is patently wrong.
There will soon be a lot fewer farmers left.
and guns. Don’t ever forget the horror of universal background checks.
