Anyone want to hazard a guess about what Pelosi’s strategy here is? Because I can’t figure out what she’s doing. Or not doing.
My brother brought up that point about Biden. There is no evidence he did anything wrong, many others wanted that prosecutor removed. But I hope it does hurt Biden because I do not want him as the nominee. If he gets it, may as well get ready for “Crooked, Sleepy Joe.”
My theory is that she, too, is compromised. My guess is that she’s overanalyzing the situation. Some days, I don’t know which one to pick.
I don’t believe she’s compromised. She’s hamstrung. She doesn’t have the votes among her Democratic caucus to vote to initiate an impeachment investigation. Until she persuades the balky House Dems to go along, her hands are tied.
Well, Speaker Pelosi told NPR that we should pass legislation explicitly permitting the indictment of a sitting President: Nancy Pelosi calls for law to be able to indict presidents | CNN Politics
As to impeachment, I tend to agree with the Speaker: Trump is Br’er Rabbit-ing the House into impeaching him so that A) if there’s enough time for the Senate to acquit, he claim “TOTAL EXONERATION” before the 2020 election, and B) even if there isn’t enough time for a Senate vote, he can put his “poor little put-upon President” schtick on an endless loop, whining about how The Big Meanie Democwats keep picking on him, “SO UNFAIR! SAD!” Investigate, yes, but don’t let him goad you into letting the Senate issue him a free pass.
I’d argue that it is keeping at least some farmers from bankruptcy (although I imagine most of the money is going to large corporate farms, so you point is perhaps largely correct).
Isn’t this all pretty close to what the Mueller report was investigating? I mean, if there was a phone call between Trump and Putin and Putin asked eight times to interfere in the election, that would have been the smoking gun, right?

My guess is she’s waiting. I think she figures an impeachment hearing will have a more favorable effect on the outcome of the elections if they hold it next summer.
I disagree. I feel that linking impeachment hearings to this kind of partisan agenda is a bad idea. If there are legitimate grounds for impeachment (and I believe there are) the House should have been moving forward on them not delaying them until a time when they’ll produce better ratings. I think that’s going to backfire on the Democrats because it will make it easier for the Republicans to claim this is just politics.
Trump is the asshole in your rental house that you can’t kick out.
Doesn’t pay rent, peeded on the carpets, but he has a lease, so you have to go through the gears of justice, as slow as they turn.
He has some buddies that harass the neighbors, but the cops never come because Trump knows the chief of police.
He’s also busy selling your furniture, FWIW
But it’s shat-on so it’s not selling as well as before it was fouled.
America herself is on Fifth Ave.
I wonder if he wanted a secret meeting with the Taliban so he could get their advice on how to Bonwit Teller the campuses of his enemies.
Reporter: That sofa you showed us today, it looked like it almost had, like, shit on it…
POTUS: I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t know.
Yes. The American public has a very short political memory, and Pelosi knows this.
They’re going to say that no matter when the impeachment happens. They say that every time someone wants to hold Trump accountable. If they can get witnesses to testify, though, the hope is that people will see through that claim.
<next day>
POTUS: Of course I shit on the sofa, it was a wonderful shit and made the sofa more memorable.
POTUS Atty: Its not illegal to shit on a sofa, even if he didn’t not do it there.
Reminds me of an old joke about a guy taking his neighbor to court because he borrowed his bucket and returned it with a hole in it:
Donald: I didn’t borrow the bucket, there was no hole in it when I brought it back, and there was a hole in it when I picked it up.
A large problem is that once a farmer, or really a product like soy beans has lost their market. It’s very hard to get it back.
China buys record amount of soy from Russia as it shuns US growers. Imagine that, what a surprise. Russia is coming out on top with this trade war.
Donald Trump has been played like a cheep fiddle and is in WAY over his head. A narcistic moron that will never ask for advice, change his mind or admit that he may have been wrong. A stupid con man that has been conned.
Oh he makes a few hundred grand on his hotel schemes, all while giving the US away to the lowest bidder.
I didn’t take the cookie, and besides, it wasn’t very good.
I suspect this will be the line of reasoning (sic) if the Ukrainian issue is pushed: “Hey, we gave 'em the $250M eventually, what does it matter what was discussed in the interim? Besides, emails!!!”
