The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

I don’t engage IRL with any Trump supporters any more. There is no point. And I am almost as tired by do-gooders as I am by GOP-enablers. “We need to build bridges, not walls” or happy crappy shit like that. I’d LOVE to have a rational discussion and talk a Trump supporter over to the right side, but it doesn’t work. It entrenches them more. I don’t know if I read it here originally, but you can’t reason with someone who got to their position by being irrational. I mean, good luck to any of you who can get one person to see the hypocrisy and cons, but diplomacy is not my forte and after 3 years of this I just want to call everyone who still stands behind him dumb fucks.

I don’t want to hear about their “economic anxiety” or how they were just fed up by the system. The answers to their problems were not in Trump. They know it. They like that he aggravates people like me. That’s it.

Not everyone who supported Trump was part of the cult. Some of them were just opportunists who signed on with Trump when they saw he was winning. And now that he looks like he’s falling, they’re abandoning him.

‘You cannot reason someone out of something he or she was not reasoned into.’ This has been ascribed to Jonathan Swift.

‘Reasoning will never make a Man correct an ill Opinion, which by Reasoning he never acquired.’ – Jonathan Swift, A Letter to a Young Gentleman, Lately Enter’d Into Holy Orders by a Person of Quality, 1721

Individual 1: The Kurds “didn’t help us in the Second World War, they didn’t help us with Normandy, as an example, they mention names of different battles… but they’re there to help us with their land.”

Which is important since if it wasn’t for Normandy, the Nazis would have invaded Florida.

Which is to say, Trump is trying to make a nationalist/anti-globalism argument by using a pro-globalism war.

“What? Over? Did you say ‘over’? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!..”

Doesn’t matter. We must punish them.

This is what the mental midgets on this forum don’t understand. We cannot possibly expect to curry favor and persuade Trump voters. We must shame and humiliate them, and find ways to force them into voting for a new nation.

Elizabeth Warren? Joe Biden? Bernie Sanders? Not the answer. We need a militarist, an extreme centrist with a military background who can use the levers of power – legitimately of course (heh heh) – to impose the righteous government upon the subjects.

I see no hope. This is a political reality TV show.

Asahi, half of your posts are whack job nonsense. What’s your excuse?

Dude, Tulsi Gabbard’s polling, like, 1%.

Coming from someone else I would assume this was some kind of absurdist parody, but unfortunately I know it isn’t.

Umm, they’re a whack job for my side? I’m not saying that’s good, mind you.

You serve a useful purpose on this board. You remind us that left wingers can be just as crazy as right wingers and warn the rest of us away from going over the edge.

Yes, this is the actual headline:
As Turkey attacks Kurds in Syria, Trump says any ISIS escapees are Europe’s problem

Trump: Now there’s one magnanimous motherfucker. A real friend to our allies. The kind of motherfucker you really want on your side.

We used to have a few others filling that niche but they all got banned. It doesn’t pay to go too far down that road.

Couple of Giuluiani associates/fixers have been arrested on campaign finance charges.

A one-poster “Stupid Liberal Idea of the Day”. Difference is that others supposedly on the same side realize it’s a SLIotD. That doesn’t often happen in the SRIotD thread.

As far as I can tell, asahi is coming up with his own material. A lot his right wing counterparts are just regurgitating the talking points they were given via right wing media. So when one right winger says it, you’re going to see ten other right wingers nodding their head in agreement; they all get their thoughts from the same source.

I’m still wavering between insane performance art or Russian troll. Either way, my stress level has gone down since I’d plonked him.

I think he’s just overly focused on worst-case scenarios, an approach which, while sadly not unreasonable these days, can lead to a downward spiral in overall outlook. asahi needs to take time away from the board and news and go pet some kittens for a while.
