I’m sure you’ve noticed this is what many of the Trump “administration” have in common: Pence, Pompeo, Barr, DeVos, Carson, Perry, together with Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and Roberts… all are what I term Christian fundamentalists. Many believe in the literal lunacy of the Rapture™ and believe they have a role to play in shepherding us toward this fate – or at least redefining America as a “Christian” nation.

I was alerted to this on a John Oliver segment.
John Oliver and this article both point out that AccuWeather has lobbied Congress unsuccessfully in the past for laws requiring the forecasts about upcoming adverse weather events that NOAA releases to the public to be limited so that “clients” would have to pay AccuWeather to find out if, say, a tornado is coming. So that’s the kind of guy trump wants to put in charge of a government organization that is supposed to provide emergency weather information to the public. On top of his not being a scientist to start with and having publicly admitted that he is not a meteorologist and has no interest in the field.
Surprisingly to me, the Senate has put this vote on hold for a while and apparently trump has had to submit it 3 times. I think if it doesn’t go to a vote soon he’ll have to resubmit again.
There have also been sexual harassment claims at AccuWeather.
Trump doesn’t seem like the kind of guy, to me, who would read the ingredients on a box of medicine. If he is abusing pseudoephedrine, then he probably wouldn’t know it - he would think he’s abusing Sudafed.

If he does abuse pills, he’s just doing the same limited-definitions thing as those people who think they’re not gay because they’re not flamboyant: he’s not drinking, is he? So, he’s clean. Those people make me want to pay Anderson Cooper to go around visiting them. Well, Cooper and a medical team specializing in explodey heads.
What also strongly appears like the behavior of an addict in Trump is the combination of insecurity and self-aggrandizing, which might seem contradictory but are both sides of the same coin: self-centeredness.
Also: long periods of “executive time.”
If Trump isn’t an addict he might as well be one.

IIRC, Elvis didn’t think he was a drug addict because all the drugs were prescribed by physicians.
It’s been pointed out (here’s a David Packman YouTube clip I think has already been posted here) that Trump at times appears manic and has dilated pupils, is sniffing, and sweating, which may be signs of being ramped up on something, and times where he appears to be crashing, like when he slurs his words and appears lethargic.
