The Trump Administration: A Clusterfuck in the Making

Lying doesn’t bother Super Christians in the least: they can easily convince themselves that their lies advance God’s Plan.

(Naturally, they never question their own conviction that they are the best arbiters of what God’s Plan actually is.)

My impression is that Trump’s question:

…did not reveal his ignorance of the reason the Civil War was fought (slavery), but instead was Trump’s suggestion that slavery wasn’t so bad and no war needed to be fought over it.

Trump was saying, I believe, something along the lines of ‘the blacks had it so good and were so well cared for-- why change that? Couldn’t it have been worked out to leave things that way?’

I can’t offer a citation in support of this impression I have; but I wouldn’t be surprised if future Tweets and remarks might strengthen this interpretation of Trump’s words.

Andrew Jackson was a great, great man. Big, fantastic heart. Jackson once walked from South Carolina to Oklahoma and left a trail of tears the whole way because he cared so much about ending slavery. And the Civil War, which people don’t know was very, very complicated.

For the short clip reaction part of the thread, here’s my 13 seconds: The Most Dramatic Scene in Film History - YouTube

Re: Andrew Jackson, whatever his faults (and they were many), he was a staunch Unionist and when South Carolina tried out the idea of “nullification” (in effect, a state could ‘nullify’ (ignore) laws made by the Federal Government, he threatened to lead the troops himself into Carolina if necessary.

Wonder if Trump knows that…somehow I doubt it.

The ending of that article is wonderful:

For a moment of comic relief, McDonald’s introduces fry-fork utensil with new sandwiches.

Who knew the Civil War was so complicated?

Oh goodie. North Korea Fires ANOTHER Ballistic Missile.

psst, that was Friday last.

Who knew missile timelines could be so complicated?

Didn’t Jackson die in 1845? So, in Trump’s “what-if” fantasy, Jackson would not only have had to have been President later, but would have needed to stay alive an extra twenty years?

This admin already has weird comments on the Holocaust and the Civil War. What’s next?

“When it comes to Christianity, no one ever stops to ask the obvious question, you know, (((who))) killed Jesus Christ?”

Barabbas could have stopped it. He had a big heart.

Just wait until Trump asks “Remember when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?”

He heard it in a movie, once.

The fact that they can’t undermine the constitution doesn’t change the fact that they want to.

Note for the perplexed: the Borowitz Report is satire.

That will always need to be pointed out. Nothing, and I mean nothing at all no matter how vile or stupid that could be said about this so-called “president” would surprise me in the least.
There is no obvious separation between fact and fiction.

I am gobsmacked that this feckless goober “president” still has fans.

But, but, …he got a conservative on the Supreme Court, and that’s all that matters.

[and he wants to cut the corporate tax rate, bonus points]

I can’t believe this bullshit. Cabinet secretary: US airstrike in Syria ‘was in lieu of after-dinner entertainment’. :smack:

Congress does something right for a change.

Nothing about recreational, only medical. Still, considering the Spineless Gnome"s stance: Fuck you, Sessions.

Your tax dollars at work. Congress Allocates $120 Million for Trump Family’s Security Costs.

If I wasn’t living through it, I would read a description of Trump’s Presidency as a Jonathan Swift level satire–a 21st century modest proposal to fuck over the poor that voted for him.

DJT:

Let’s eat my base to enrich my friends; they don’t even see it happening and they Cheer me while I ineffectively try to do it. Ineffective, because I don’t understand how the Constitution works and I need to have more power to get around that archaic sheet of toliet paper that I recently swore to uphold, which gives so-called judges in far away islands the power to endanger our country. Or, Congress–just Congress. But, now it’s bad. Because I can’t measure up to what my favorite dictators do in third world countries. And, of course, Putin is the Gold Standard; very strong!

Maybe I should ask them to the White House to get some pointers?

What would Andrew Jackson tweet?

Vlad? Vlad? Please call me to tell what I’m supposed to do. Vlad?
